The MSc in International Relations, Strategy, and Security aims at providing students with a broad assessment of contemporary international relations, with emphasis on strategy and security issues. It combines in-depth academic training in key concepts, theories, and case studies, alongside a structured process of engagement with contemporary debates and experience. It integrates theoretical approaches with the study of many cases and issues.

The MSc International Security There are a growing number of new threats to international security, ranging from civil war, terrorism and transnational crime to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. This programme provides you with a theoretical and empirical understanding of the international security environment of the post-Cold War era, including the origins of conflicts and peace, the emergence of new security threats, and the many different agencies involved in conflict prevention, peacekeeping and peacemaking today.

The Master’s Degree in International Security Studies (MISS) is jointly awarded by the University of Trento and the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, in Pisa. Since its establishment in 2016, we have trained dozens of students for highly qualified careers in international organizations, governmental agencies, in diplomatic and institutional milieu, the non-governmental and humanitarian sectors, as analysts, consultants, security practitioners and professionals, as well as for academic careers.

The master’s degree in International and Security Politics focuses on key international security issues generated by armed conflict, terrorism, climate change, and transnational migration across the world. At the intersection of defense policy, economics, peacekeeping, and international relations, this training program provides a strong understanding of how public and private actors address these issues and try to solve them, as well as expertise for analyzing contemporary forms of conflicts and hostility, locally as well as globally.

This program offers theoretical and methodological training in security issues such as conflicts, wars and agendas associated with cyber or space realms. There are four specializations: Peace and Conflict Studies, Strategic and War Studies, Global and Regional Security, Security and Technology. You will be ready for a career in international institutions, administration and foreign services, NGOs, media, and academia. The program offers a double-degree option with the University of Konstanz.
