In recent years there has been a growing demand in companies in the ICT sector for specialists in areas such as digital image processing, virtual and augmented reality, intelligent systems and techniques, multi-agent systems, social computing, pattern recognition, processing natural language, speech recognition, machine translation, etc. On the other hand, the development of systems and products based on these technologies usually requires a high dose of ingenuity and knowledge of the advances in research, which brings the training demand closer to the research training typical of a doctorate.
