NTU's School of Humanities (SoH) is home to six major programmes: Art History, Chinese, English, Linguistics & Multilingual Studies, History and Philosophy. The School offers Graduate Research Degrees in all of these disciplines.

The MA Islamic Humanities at SOAS is a professional and research-focused program requiring 120 credits of taught modules and a 10,000-word dissertation. The MA in Communication & Information Studies: Digital Humanities is the only master in the field in the Netherlands. In this degree, you will learn how to program and how to combine theory and skills in using digital tools, and you will get acquainted with the new developments in digitization and datafication in culture and society. This Digital Humanities MA combines digital theory and practice to study human culture. This MRes Humanities offers you the opportunity to pursue bespoke, research-oriented Masters study across a range of subjects in the Humanities.

This unique interdisciplinary MA offers you the opportunity to study Black Humanities through critical engagement with the global histories, philosophies, languages, literature and arts of people of African descent. Based on cutting-edge research from across the humanities, you will study the histories and intellectual frameworks that underpin contemporary debates about race.

The Humanities programs offer part-time and full-time options and allow students to specialize in a chosen field.

The MA in Japanese Studies at SOAS is the most comprehensive available anywhere in Europe. You are able to choose modules that cover Japan’s history from the pre-modern era to the present, and range over the social and political sciences as well as humanities. Students who take this programme come from many countries and have a wide variety of academic backgrounds.

In Research Degrees (PhD/MPhil) in Global Studies the Centre for International Studies and Diplomacy (CISD) welcomes applications from prospective MPhil/PhD students wishing to undertake multi-disciplinary research in areas of global studies that relate to the research interests of Centre members and the Centre’s research programmes.
