Mineral Materials/IMACS is an integrated MSc dedicated to the analysis, study and development of natural minerals and geomaterials to respond to environmental and sustainable development issues.

In the master's in Economic Geography, you will learn to understand these region-specific socio-economic development paths. We focus on the actions of people and firms and how they govern regional economic development: where do entrepreneurs start their businesses, how do firms grow, where do people live, where do they move to and which jobs do they have? Can we understand their choices? With this information on an individual level, you will be able to understand regional developments and formulate policy avenues to govern such processes locally, nationally and internationally.

Students gain expertise in transport and geoinformation technology and learn how to plan, build and maintain advanced transport systems. Our Master's Programme in Geography is based on high-quality research groups operating in some of the major fields of geography. It is divided into three study tracks: 1) physical geography, 2) human geography, and 3) geoinformatics.

During this 4-semester MSc in Geography, our students will focus on GIS methods and remote sensing tools applied in surface geomorphology both in a classroom environment and in the field. They will have the opportunity to join in and participate in research and scientific projects run by IGES. The Institute has research collaborations with global companies like ESA and SARMap, and international relations with research groups from Switzerland, Poland, Spain, Slovenia, China, and the US. These projects may provide internships for our students to experience the international atmosphere and scientific skills and knowledge.

The objective of this Study Cycle is to confer professional teaching qualifications in accordance with the reference number 4 the Attachment of the Decree Law 79/2014 (Primary School Teacher and Teacher of Portuguese, History and Geography of Portugal – 6 to 12 year old pupils).
