The MA in French Culture is designed for student who have already mastered the French language and wish to take their experience and knowledge one step further. Introductory and advanced courses will cover the linguistic and cultural aspects.

On a more advanced level (Master’s studies) students are encouraged to collaborate with us in our fields of expertise, i.e. the Contemporary French Novel; Autobiography; Contemporary French Theatre, and Francophone Literature, in order to develop their capacities for research and critical thought. The French Department’s Master’s is designed for dedicated researchers and mainly consists of a dissertation or a thesis.

The Master in French Language and Literature will perfect your skills in French and will give you the opportunity to develop an analytical framework in French linguistics and literature. You will benefit from the teaching of recognized specialists, who will guide you in their field of expertise towards the development of a personal research project.

An acceptable level of proficiency in English or Afrikaans is a requisite.

The master’s program in Teaching French as a Foreign Language (FLE) is both research-based and profession-oriented. The training offered provides students with essential tools for the analysis of teaching situations as well as practical tools that enable intervention in professional sectors related to the teaching process.

The master's programme provides knowledge and skills in a modern or classical language and culture.

The Department of European Languages and Literatures offers the Master of Arts degree in French. The degree leads to teaching careers in secondary education and college, and to admission to doctoral programs in these languages or comparative literature. Courses cover numerous aspects of the literature from the Medieval through the contemporary periods, viewed through various methods of literary criticism.

The American College of the Mediterranean (ACM) is a U.S. college in Aix-en-Provence, France. ACM is a leader in international education and provides an American-style education with a global focus. The Master of Arts in French Studies (MAFS) is a one-year program that offers students the unique opportunity to earn an American MA degree in France. Situated in Aix-en-Provence near the Mediterranean coast, ACM's program unites mainland French with the Francophone countries of North Africa, ensuring that students are exposed to the rich diversity of the French language and culture. The MA in French Studies prepares students for a variety of public and private careers in the international sector and provides them with a foundation to continue their education at the doctoral level. Upon completion, graduates of the program will have the capability and tools to teach French in colleges and universities or they may pursue careers in business or government agencies.

The MA in French trains scholars in the literature, culture, and history of France and the Francophone world. Our students take courses on a wide array of literary, theoretical, historical and sociological topics relating to France and the Francophone world. Coursework explores different historical periods, world regions and disciplinary methodologies.

The French Master’s programme aims to give a high level of knowledge in French language, literature and culture. We offer specialised courses in linguistic and literary topics, and provide extensive training in oral and written use of modern French. The supervised master’s thesis allows you to pursue in-depth investigation and analysis within your chosen area of linguistics or literary studies. The Master’s programme also aims to engage you in on-going research at the Department and to help you develop a critical and independent attitude to problems and methods of the subject disciplines.

The mission of Gazi University School of Foreign Languages is to facilitate cooperation and coordination between its two branches: Department of Modern Languages and Department of Basic Foreign Languages, and equip students studying at faculties where the medium of instruction is partly English, with oral and written communication skills as well as reading and listening skills, necessary for their academic studies.

The master's program in French Linguistics and Literature offers students the opportunity of extending the knowledge and skills they have already acquired in the field of language, literature and French/Francophone culture, qualifying them to pursue research in these fields. At the same time, the program prepares students for training in other careers such as translation, journalism, teaching or academic research.

The specialty of the French language operates about 19 years at the faculty of International Relations and Foreign Languages.Currently, 55 students study the French language in the I-IV courses. The specialty of the German language was established in 1999-2000 academic year and 15 students were accepted to the specialty in the same year.
