Digital film has unleashed a true revolution in the way we conceive, produce and enjoy the seventh art. Thanks to technological advances, we now have the power to create dazzling images, striking visual effects and narratives that immerse the viewer in a universe of infinite possibilities.

The course provides students with the knowledge and techniques to enable them to produce audiovisual works in any format. Students will learn about and complete the work of the director and of the other members of the directing team in the preparation, filming and post-production processes.

The film is a world made up of many different languages, each one born out of the necessity to communicate a vision. Using experimentation and research one can give life to new stories and in order to tell them, RUFA has created the two-year Master of Arts Degree Program in Film Arts, born to bring together, in a single program, the talent and storytelling capacity, writing, and vision of students who have completed a degree in the Arts or Design.

MA Filmmaking explores contemporary storytelling across a variety of media and platforms, with a particular focus on short-form filmmaking, including narrative, documentary, and artistic practices.

The MFA is part of EICAR's English language curriculum. It offers a two year Master of Fine Arts program in filmmaking with 5 options for final projects – Directing, Screenwriting, Cinematography, Producing and Editing. The School provides degrees and programs with an emphasis on practical filmmaking experience and team working process. With a class size of 15 students, we favor direct studio work and to mimic real industry conditions to prepare students.

Our MA Filmmaking is a non-specialist degree, training students in a variety of craft areas. Taught within small crews and units, we welcome students from over 40 countries. This programme is offered three times a year, with entry points in January, May and September.

An intensive 2-year program accessible after a bachelor's degree or Bac+3, taught entirely in English, intended for international or French students wishing to develop professional expertise in audiovisual production and screenwriting taught in English.

The Master’s Programme in Montage at FAMU is a full-time, English-taught, three-year course designed for graduates in film or related fields who wish to become creative editors — artists who shape the rhythm, structure, and emotional power of audiovisual storytelling. Rather than training technicians, the programme forms editors as co-authors of meaning and collaborators in the filmmaking process.

The Master’s programme in Directing Cinema and Digital Media at FAMU is a full-time, English-taught, three-year course designed for graduates who wish to develop their authorship, storytelling, and directing skills across fiction, documentary, and experimental media. The programme emphasizes the director’s role throughout the production process — from concept development and scriptwriting to image design, actor direction, and post-production.

The Master’s Programme in Cinematography at FAMU is a full-time, English-taught, three-year course designed for students who wish to become creative and independent professionals. The programme emphasizes cinematography not just as technical craft, but as a central artistic and narrative tool, where image, light, movement, and color communicate story, emotion, and rhythm.

Digital Direction addresses our urgent need for inclusive and relevant storytelling. Our programme examines the emergence of new technologies for telling stories, such as VR, AR and mobile platforms, alongside the future of storytelling itself.

The School of Motion Pictures & Television’s MFA program offers in-depth, advanced training in the various areas of film and television production. Depending on the area of specialization, the MFA program culminates in a thesis film or professional reel/portfolio. Areas of study include directing, producing, cinematography, editing, production design, and screenwriting. Students are prepared to compete for work in the industry or to teach, as the MFA is a terminal degree.
