The International Master of Science in Environmental Technology and Engineering (IMETE) program addresses these needs by educating a new generation of environmental scientists and engineers that can provide adequate and state-of-the-art environmental technology and engineering solutions to tackle complex, multidisciplinary environmental issues.

As a student of the Master’s Programme in Transdisciplinary Studies of Climate, Environment, and Energy (TRACEE) you are empowered to become a change-maker. Our hands-on programme equips you with the tools to understand the complex problems of climate, energy, and environmental systems. By following TRACEE, you will enhance your skills to create innovative solutions from the perspectives of natural science, social science and humanities, through what we call a transdisciplinary approach.

This joint program combines the expertise of three Belgian universities on aquatic systems. It not only offers you an insight into the complexity of life and processes in marine environments and lakes. But it also comprises management, policy, commercial aspects of aquatic ecosystems, and law. This combination of disciplines makes it a unique program in Europe.

Every day we are faced with important global health challenges. Chronic conditions, mental illnesses and ageing, but also the effects of pollution, climate change and migration on health, are considered global health challenges of the 21st century. In line with the interdisciplinary character of this course, the lecturers and teachers involved in this Master form a unique interdisciplinary mix to deal with the current Global Health issues and challenges. The master is a collaboration between Ghent University, Catholic University of Leuven, Hasselt University, Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the University of Antwerp.

The European Master in Sustainable Energy System Management is an initiative proposed and developed by the association of European Renewable Energy Research Centres (EUREC) and a consortium of Universities outlined in the Partnering Universities section.

The 2-year master programme in “Master of Science in Marine and Lacustrine Science and Management” (Oceans & Lakes) addresses students with a background in Sciences. Oceans & Lakes is an inter-university programme organized by the Faculty of Sciences of Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB, Free University of Brussels), Universiteit Antwerpen (UAntwerpen, Antwerp University) and Universiteit Gent (UGent, Ghent University). The students are provided with strong fundamental and applied knowledge and prepared for an active role in the scientific research and management of marine and lacustrine systems.

Water challenges and ecosystem restoration are highly relevant topics on the global agenda. The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Applied Ecohydrology (MAEH) focuses on finding and implementing solutions that ensure the sustainability of the uses and good ecological status of water and aquatic ecosystems, by merging ecohydrology with water engineering and integrated water management. MAEH graduates will have the holistic perspective and technical knowledge needed for solving the complex and multifactorial problems of water security and aquatic ecosystems sustainability, now and in the future.
