Our MA in English Literature introduces you to studying literature, poetry, drama and prose in relation to culture and across three broad themes. These are literary-popular culture, which includes exploring genre writing, the bestseller and mass literary production; revolution and literature, in which you’ll encounter texts representing revolutionary social or political change; and global literary cultures where you’ll look at English literature as an international literary form.

The Programme has been developed to provide students with outstanding postgraduate experience in the field of English Language and Literature. MA English Language and Literature offers a varied and distinctive range of areas of study, including contemporary literary studies, critical and cultural theory, gender, memory, trauma, and postcolonial studies. It provides students with a range of transferable skills to meet the requirements of the professional workplace and prepares them for further study at PhD level. The MA in English Language and Literature focuses on narratives in relation to their literary and cultural contexts. Students will study a number of different works by a variety of authors, written in a range of historical periods. The degree combines literary theory, reading comprehension and critique, language and philology. It allows students to develop advanced written skills, analytical abilities and an understanding of how to compose a successful narrative. These skills prepare graduates for employment in a range of fields and create a strong foundation for further academic pursuits.

The Department of Foreign Literatures and Linguistics offers an MA in English Literature. All tracks are designed to take two years. The English Literature programs offer either a thesis (research) track or a non-thesis (general) track. Additionally, the goal of the thesis track is that students conduct original research and contribute to scientific knowledge.

The MA in English Literature and Culture is an academic humanities degree with a socially relevant focus. We offer you academic excellence with transferable skills, with the resources of a large research university but with small classes (typically 10-15 students), in a friendly ambiance that contributes to our positive student feedback. Our staff has received their doctorates from a mix of Dutch universities and international institutions (Oxford, Cambridge, Toronto, Edinburgh).

Our English Literature: Modern and Contemporary Fictions MA gives you the opportunity to study English literature in a modern university environment while taking advantage of London's rich cultural life. You'll examine literary texts in the wider context of cultural production and relate them to their social, historical and political circumstances. Our team of academic specialists make use of the many nearby museums, galleries and libraries in their teaching. The course will be of particular interest if you wish to prepare for further study at MPhil or PhD level or if you're teaching English and wish to gain a further qualification and investigate current developments in the field. Studying the MA, you'll have the chance to revisit and reinvestigate the texts, critical practices, institutions and periods of English Literature in order to see it in new and exciting ways.

The Graduate Program in English and American Literature at Boston University provides comprehensive training in all areas of English studies. Coursework is offered in historical periods, individual authors, important literary movements, literary theory and the history of criticism, and philology and linguistics. Students develop a broad competence in all literary periods before moving to a more specialized knowledge of a single area or topic.

The Master's Program in English Literature provides a comprehensive study of literature from across the Anglophone world. The Master of English Linguistics and Literature will expand your knowledge of the English language, its structure and history, its literature and its cultural embedding. The objective of this two-year program (120 credits) is to train specialists in three areas: English Literature and Culture, English Applied Linguistics, Society and Culture of English-Speaking Countries.
