36 English Language and Linguistics Masters Degree Programs

Students who already have a BA degree in the humanities or social sciences and speak English at least at C1 level can apply to this two- or four-semester programme providing training in the different aspects - language, history, culture, politics, diversity - of American Studies.

The Master of English Linguistics and Literature will expand your knowledge of the English language, its structure and history, its literature and its cultural embedding. Research-based teaching will allow you to benefit from the expertise of KU Leuven’s internationally renowned scholars in English linguistics and literature. You will be encouraged to develop your communication and research skills through seminars and your personal master’s thesis. The optional component of the programme allows you to additionally study linguistics and literature from a broader European perspective.

The interuniversity master's degree in advanced English studies and its applications brings together the studies of language, literature and culture from two English-speaking countries in three Galician universities (UDC, USC and UVigo) and offers advanced training in important topics in this field of study.

The program leading to the Master of Arts Degree in English is a 30-semester-unit curriculum. Opportunities for emphasis in British literature, American literature, rhetoric and composition, and Teaching English as a Second Language exist in a flexible curriculum.

It involves the study of a single language and literature chosen from French, English, German, Swedish, Spanish, Portuguese, Anglo-American and Hispanic-American. It aims to improve knowledge of languages, cultures and literatures in their geographical and cultural dimensions connected to the history of colonization and the processes of globalization.

The full-time degree program is either 2 or 4 semesters (60 or 120 credits), depending on your previous qualifications.
