The Inter-University Master in Energy Engineering is offered jointly by the University of Trento, Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering, and the Free University of Bolzano, Faculty of Engineering. 

By completing this one-year programme (60 ECTS), you gain advanced scientific and technical knowledge and insights into the sustainable production of energy, the efficiency of energy conversion, the optimisation of energy storage, and the intelligent management of various energy systems.

This course in Master in Energy Engineering is the result of the increasing spreading of technologies connected with the spread generation and the optimized management of energy and the consequent increasing demand for engineers able to develop and propose efficient and innovative technological solutions to deal with the issues deriving from the progressive depletion of fossil non-renewable sources and the environmental impacts due to the use of energy.

The Master’s Degree program in Energy Engineering provides solid skills necessary to operate with management and R&D functions in the sustainable production, distribution, and use of energy in its various forms (mechanical, thermal, electrical, chemical). Energy engineers will be able to interact with environmental, economic, and regulatory aspects. The programme also prepares professionals in the field of renewable sources and major energy conversions, with in-depth studies on combined plants, cogeneration and nuclear (fusion and fission) plants, energy in buildings, heating and cooling systems. The Master of Geosciences offers a classical two-year training in French. Additionally, we offer a one-year training in English for graduate students. This one-year course called ‘Geoengineering ’ (~270 h lecture and 5-6 month internship) will be particularly appreciated by foreign students who wish to reinforce their background in different fields of Petroleum Engineering. This year is also open for regular students who started French classes during their first year in the Master "Of Geosciences". This Master benefits from a particularly rich environment in geosciences and energy. The Master is part of the Faculty of Sciences and Technologies for Energy and Environment (STEE). The STEE Faculty has been founded within the framework of the prestigious label I-SITE which granted the project Energy Environment Solutions (E2S). It also benefits from the immediate surroundings of Carnot ISIFOR (Sustainable Engineering of Georesources) and a national pole for Geosciences and Innovation (Avenia). In addition, Pau hosts dozens of Petroleum companies, including Total, Terega, Modis, etc... Pau has therefore one of the highest concentrations of petroleum engineers and scientists in France.

The master's in Energy Engineering study program is a continuation of the bachelor study program “Energetics and Environments”. Nevertheless, graduates of other technical programs and fields, both from VŠB-TUO and other universities, also apply for this program.

The Master of Nuclear Engineering is a one-year programme organised by 6 Belgian universities in collaboration with SCK CEN. It is a modular programme that facilitates individual participation in selected courses or foreign students' participation in blocs of courses.

The program Master of Science (Water and Hydropower Engineering / Hydraulic Engineering and River Basin Development is a double degree program offered by Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) and the Delft Institute for Water Education (IHE Delft). Students who have successfully completed this program will be awarded the Master of Science Degree in (Water and Hydro-power Engineering) by UniKL and also the Master of Science Degree in Water Science and Engineering with specialization in Hydraulic Engineering and River Basin Development by IHE Delft.
