The primary purpose of this qualification is to provide qualifying students with academic and professional practical skills in order to identify assess and diagnose needs and relevant issues in the domain of Educational Psychology. The student will be able to design, execute and manage appropriate and ethical educational psychological interventions for individuals, parents, families, groups, educators, schools, and communities, including specialized and advanced therapeutic and counseling approaches.

The Department conducts research in the theory and practice of school leadership, in the field of school improvement, the establishment and maintenance of school and organisational climate and culture.

This Program offers the student with a four-year BDiv, a BThHons or equivalent qualification, the opportunity of theological specialisation and research at master's level. The coursework modules, in the case of the coursework master's degree, provide the opportunity to acquire specialist skills in the practical field of the Ministry.

The Department’s lecturers are involved in a variety of industry bodies and associations, and this close association keeps the programmes relevant. These include the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), the Library and Information Association of South Africa (LIASA).

This programme is offered by the Centre for Science, Mathematics and Technology Education. Students are registered in a discipline department in the relevant faculty. The MSc (Science Education) is designed for educators who wish to pursue their postgraduate studies in both a scientific discipline and in science education.

The purpose of the Master in Education is to enable qualifying students to develop knowledge and skills to function as critically reflective, competent, and accountable education researchers who can contribute to the development of educational knowledge at an advanced level.

The online Master of Education (MEd) in Educational Management is relevant to anyone involved in the formal or informal education sector. The range of modules will add value to previous learning and provide conceptual and theoretical frameworks to make sense of and review practices. While the programme is globally informed, you will be expected to interrogate imported information in the light of your local contextual knowledge and practice with the intention of finding your own educational management voice.

Assessment and Quality Assurance in Education and Training offers prospective assessors and quality assurers a comprehensive overview of the foundations of educational assessment, testing, measurement and evaluation. It is a generic programme that can be applied to all learning areas.

The Department of Humanities Education aims to develop professional educators and highly skilled researchers in the field of humanities education who will be able to contribute meaningfully to the development of the education system through quality teaching and nouveau research both nationally and internationally.

The minimum duration for this degree is one year. Subject to other faculty regulations, a student for a master's degree must complete his or her studies within three years after first registering for the degree. Under special circumstances, the Dean, on the recommendation of the head of department, may give approval for a limited fixed extension of this period.
