17 Dental Sciences Masters Degree Programs

The programme in restorative dentistry is made up of the Master's Degree in Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry* of 120 ECTS and the Master's Degree of Lifelong Learning in Restorative Dentistry of 60 ECTS. Restorative dentistry is a broad subject, and all the knowledge involved in a Dentistry degree is required to understand it fully. It also requires a mastery of many specific techniques involved in both diagnosis and restorative treatment. These techniques mean oral rehabilitation is more comfortable for the patient and ensure a good long-term prognosis. The concept of restorative dentistry is currently integrated within the broad context of the patient as a functional unit who requires integral and multidisciplinary treatment, one facet of which is restorative treatment

The main goal of the new Undergraduate Program in Dentistry (in English language) is to graduate Doctors capable of competence, clinical expertise and ethics in providing oral care to patients. The students will take courses on basic sciences, such as oral physiology and pathology, medical topics related to dentistry, and all dental topics (e.g. restorative dentistry, endodontics, periodontology, oral surgery, implantology, prosthodontics, orthodontics, gnathology).

Our Dental Materials Science degree is focused on a research-led educational programme, where theoretical concepts of materials science delivered by a range of teaching methods are reinforced by gaining insight and a deeper understanding within a laboratory setting.

The Periodontology and Implant Dentistry Programme is a full-time 3-year postgraduate programme accredited by the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), designed to train dentists in the specialised fields of periodontology and implantology. This programme prepares students to supervise clinical treatments, as well as how to teach and carry out research in surgical and periodontal implant dentistry. The course includes a theoretical module that covers clinical subjects related to periodontics, seminars that review and analyse contemporary and classic literature, courses on surgical and periodontal implantology, the relationship between periodontics and other specialised areas of dentistry, a study of clinical cases in periodontics, and clinical cases related to other areas of dental specialisation. During the practical part of this course students will receive training in all types of periodontal treatment and will carry out an individual research project in the area of periodontics and implantology.

Students may earn a Master of Science (MS) degree in Oral and Craniofacial Sciences within one of two research concentrations: Craniofacial and Dental Genetics and Craniofacial Tissue Regeneration. Students will be exposed to both concentrations in the program curriculum, including three courses with DMD students, and work with faculty in the Department of Oral and Craniofacial Sciences on research in one of these concentrations.
