Would you like to use dance and movement to support people in change processes? On Germany's only Master's degree program in Dance and Movement Therapy, you will learn how to use dance and movement in a variety of therapeutic and social contexts.

The master’s programme in dance performance consists of two years of full-time studies that develop your skills as a performer and as an independent and reflective artist. After graduating, you will be ready to work in the diverse and changing contexts of dance art. You will develop as a solo performer and as an active member of an artistic team.

The Master’s Programme in Dance Pedagogy at HAMU is a three-year, full-time course taught in English, designed for graduates seeking advanced professional and methodological expertise in dance education. The programme allows students to specialise in one of three pathways: Methods of Classical Ballet Technique, Methods of Modern and Contemporary Dance, or Methods of Folk Dance.

This programme provides you with a broad understanding of the theories and practices of dance movement therapy necessary for safe and effective clinical work, and enables you to practise as a dance movement therapist.

It addresses dance, movement and related practices as Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) from the perspectives of Ethnochoreology, the Anthropology of Dance, Sport and Movement, Heritage Studies, and Technology for Dance and Sport. It focuses on fieldwork and engages with movement analysis, motion capture, ethnographic and documentation techniques. 

We see art pedagogy as a form of artistic activity where pedagogical questions are ever-present. In the context of art pedagogy, we consider art, performance and teaching as encounters where aesthetic, ethical and political phenomena are intertwined. When art and pedagogy come together, they both change.

The Master’s Programme in Choreology at HAMU is a two-year, full-time course taught in English, designed for graduates who wish to deepen their expertise in dance history, theory, and methodology. The programme provides advanced academic training in choreology, combining theoretical study, methodological practice, and research-driven approaches.

This part-time 2-year innovative Joint Degree Master Choreography is run jointly by Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam and Fontys Academy of the Arts in Tilburg. The program is designed to support experienced movement makers from a variety of fields while they carry out research into questions initiated from their current practice.

The Master Performance Practices at ArtEZ is an incubator for artistic research around the Body in Performance and its wider ecology. The course is based in the HOME OF PERFORMANCE PRACTICES in Arnhem, Netherlands, harbouring a community of dedisciplined and diverse thinkers who promote performance-making as a strategy for equitable societies.

The Master of Arts in Dance offers two specializations: Choreography, on one hand, Teaching and Coaching Dance Professionals on the other. It builds the choreographic and teaching skills needed to work with dance professionals and to qualify for the relevant professions. Coursework includes choreographic methods, teaching skills, and artistic research with a view to developing an individual artist or teaching profile. The programme promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and helps students to establish a sustainable network within the international field of dance.

MA Dance: Creative Dance Education will allow you to study the art and science of dance education by considering a wide range of needs, teaching styles and modern perspectives on teaching and learning. You’ll put your learning into practice as you take part in industry-led workshops and participate in two work-based placements. You’ll study in our £55 million New Adelphi building, home to multiple rehearsal studios and a theatre.
