12 Chinese Masters Degree Programs

The China and Inner Asia Department is able to supervise MPhil and PhD degrees by research and thesis in a wide range of cultural and linguistic subjects. Intending research students should not feel constrained to limit their choice of topics to those indicated against the names of current staff members (postgraduate students have recently been working on such diverse topics as colour symbolism in ancient Chinese texts, Chinese cinema, Chinese Braille systems, and translation studies).

This program in Master in International Chinese Language Education is oriented towards cultivating professionals with a strong work ethic and a good understanding of China and Chinese culture, proficient in teaching skills and techniques for Chinese language and culture, and handling intercultural communication.

The Master in Chinese Studies is offered by the University of Aveiro and the ISCTE-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa.

The Master of Arts (Thesis) (MA (Thesis))

The Master of Arts (Coursework) program is designed to give students the skills sought-after by employers around the globe, with a balance of specific subject knowledge plus broad-based transferable skills – such as oral and written communication, and analytical skills.

The "Chinese Studies" educational program (EP) is a graduating program. Students study fundamental courses in law, economics, history, culture, and politics of the language, special attention is paid to language training in the main Chinese language, and a language internship in China strengthens the theoretical basis for learning Chinese.

The Master of Chinese as a Foreign Language/Chinese as a Second Language in the School environment (CLE/CLS) prepares the students for a teaching career in institutional settings (schools, language centers, cultural services, and embassies). Internships represent a valuable reinforcement to the initial training received in the University of Artois.

In recent years, the field of TCS/FL (Teaching Chinese as a Second/Foreign Language) has rapidly expanded to every corner of the world. The master's program of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language was founded to foster exceptional talents in the field of TCFL. The master's program places a strong emphasis on integrating theories and practices in education. We aim to prepare students for a promising career in TCFL and to further contribute to the Chinese language education field.

The Master of Chinese International Education prepares students for a professional career in teaching Chinese overseas. The College of International Students of Yunnan University provides students with a broad range of linguistic and cultural knowledge for use in the international arena.

Saginaw Valley State University has partnered with Ming Chuan University to offer a Master of Art in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL) program.

This master's program has been developed for students holding a B.A. degree in Economics, Business Administration or equivalent qualification who want to specialize in China business and economics. Next to classes that offer an in-depth analysis of China’s economy and approaches to doing business with China, students will learn the Chinese language and take classes in Chinese Studies. In addition, senior language classes will empower students to understand and discuss economic texts in the Chinese language. Methodological classes prepare students to use their economic and Chinese study knowledge for academic research as well as for solving business problems.
