Unify efforts and strengthen institutional, academic, and scientific relationships through the articulation of teaching, research, and extension to the study of Marine Sciences in Colombia to form qualified masters in the field of marine-coastal sciences, with a broad vision, responsibility ethics and willingness to formulate and carry out strategic projects that guarantee the sustainability of ecosystems for the social and economic development of the coastal zone and the country. To be recognized as a master's program of excellence for the academic and research quality of its graduates and for the active participation of the research groups of the two universities through the development of higher-level research, with an integrated approach to space and territory. marine-coastal areas that contribute to the sustainable development of the Caribbean Region and in general of all marine-coastal areas of the country.

The Master in Biological Sciences is aimed at generating skills in various research areas with the aim of training the candidate to know, explore, evaluate and manage biodiversity resources in the country, thus generating the capacities to obtain better benefits from the environment natural, while conserving biological and cultural diversity. The commitment that is acquired is to implement a relevant master's program, with academic solidity, scientific rigor, framed in the local, regional, national, and international context, which positively impacts the environment, which is expected to be achieved through research processes and innovation, generating a culture of self-evaluation and improvements that cause visible and significant changes in the study, knowledge, conservation, restoration, and management of the biological diversity of the region that translates into the improvement of the quality of life of the communities.

Bioinformatics is dedicated to the research, development or application of computational tools to help in the analysis of biological data that include areas such as biology, medicine, agriculture, among others, focusing on the acquisition, storage, organization and visualization of these data. On the other hand, computational biology focuses on the development and application of analytical data, mathematical models, computational simulation techniques and theoretical methods, for the study of biological, behavioral and social systems. The object of the Master is based on the tools, instruments and methodologies provided by bioinformatics and computational biology for the study of living beings. The Master's Degree in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology is a novel bet of the articulation of four universities in Manizales, thanks to the support of SUMA and organizations such as the Luker Foundation and the Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology of Colombia, BIOS.

The Master in Agroindustrial Microbiology focuses its interest in knowledge in the evaluation of the potential of microorganisms in agro-industrial processes, its interdisciplinary nature demands knowledge and cutting-edge technologies, derived from scientific advances related to these fields of knowledge.

Develop advanced academic competencies in the field of microbiology by deepening knowledge in the areas of human and animal health, agri-environment, industry, and biotechnology supported by a comprehensive and interdisciplinary curricular structure that responds to the demands of the academic, scientific, and social context.
