Modern industrial plants, or those undergoing modernisation, require competences in the development of machines and industrial systems with ever increasing automation. This includes, for example, sophisticated systems for the perception and interpretation of sensorial information, as well as manipulation processes and systems. Prior to this proximity to the production line, it is necessary to interact with the machines and interconnect them in communications networks, in an environment of industrial informatics. Building advanced machines is, therefore, an objective that requires solid knowledge and competences in Mechanical and Electrotechnical Engineering, among others.

Students on this study programme will be provided with knowledge, skills, and qualifications to work on more complex levels of engineering. It will prepare them with excellent foundations for experimental development in the electronics-engineering field within industry and scientific organisations. They will learn the modelling of electronics and control systems, and understand the principles of circular economy.

With this Master's degree, the aim is to acquire advanced, specialized and multidisciplinary training, aimed at knowing the current state of research in the field of robotics.

The Master in Control Engineering introduces the student to the basic methodologies of Automatic Control such as: - modeling and identification of dynamic systems; - measurement processing and online filtering of sensor data; - use of feedback to stabilize the behavior of a process and optimize its performance; - integrated design of automatic control systems.
