Our Education in Arts & Cultural Settings MA offers you the exciting opportunity to study a course that combines academic and practice-based knowledge in the growing area of art-based education, engagement and participation, through diverse and engaging modes of teaching/learning. It is designed to provide professional knowledge and expertise in that area for both students who are already working in the culture/arts sector and for students who are aspiring to get into an education-related career in culture and the arts.

This programme gives artists, practitioners, and teachers the opportunity to enrich and consolidate theories of contemporary art and learning. Engage with practice and theory, develop innovative research approaches, and critically debate the changing nature of contemporary art.

Art can address issues and act for social change. Whether it takes place in a museum or in the public space, art is taught through experience. The international Master Artist Educator (iMAE) program is not about projecting art onto communities, but about working together with a variety of groups and individuals: from public servants to the private sector, with both artists and non-artists, teachers, students, NGO’s and policy makers. At iMAE we learn by doing and making together. You bring – and throughout the program further develop – your own practice and research interest to address pressing social concerns: migration, identity, conflict, environment and diversity.

The MEd in Creative Education will enable you to develop the confidence to design, deliver and evaluate innovative creative education that is informed by a critical understanding of competing conceptual and policy perspectives. This will involve an exploration of new and emerging forms of creative education. A significant part of the MEd course will be delivered online.
