The Master of Architecture is a focused, professional degree and is required to become a practising architect. It is the second of two degrees, undertaken after the successful completion of the Bachelor of Design in Architecture (C10004) or equivalent.

A limited number of places are offered each year to suitably qualified students to follow a program of study leading to this award. This degree is for graduates seeking to extend and deepen their knowledge by undertaking an appropriate research investigation under professional supervision by UTS: Design, Architecture and Building academic staff.

This degree operates with a series of studios with projects that emphasise research, design and vision. Your work is defined by industry practice, surveying the social, environmental, practical and aesthetic needs of the brief, working within the wider context of architectural theory and philosophy.

Specialise in areas of interest that interest you, such as remote construction, sustainability, urban design, conservation, and digital environments, and gain practical experience with this focused and accredited master degree.

This unique program focuses on the emerging area of high-performance buildings with a specialisation in sustainable design. You will acquire an evidence-based education on the design, service provision and operation of buildings with a deep knowledge of sustainability principles.

This unique program will allow you to build a strong technical education in human visual perception, methods for quantifying light, lighting technologies and sustainability with an added specialisation in audio and acoustics.

The Master of Architecture is the accredited professional degree for a career in architecture, complying with the competency requirements of the Board of Architects Queensland and the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia.

The accredited Master of Architecture the program, when combined with relevant professional experience and successful completion of the Architectural Practice Examination fulfils one of the pathways to register as an architect in Australia.
