The Master in Aquaculture and Fisheries has two specializations: one in Aquaculture and another in Fisheries. In addition to the predominant areas of the Aquaculture and Fisheries Sciences course, other important areas are Environmental Sciences and Biological Sciences.

AquaH, the International Master of Science in Health Management in Aquaculture,  is a 2-year master's program that studies the interaction between the health of aquaculture species and their environment. The program contributes to the sustainable supply of healthy and tasty seafood by training experts who are able to develop innovative solutions to current and future health and disease problems in the aquaculture industry.

The Master in Science and Technology of Conservation of Fishery Products is designed to train qualified professionals within this industrial field and to allow the sector to equip itself with technologists specialized in the conservation of fisheries and aquaculture products.

Master of Science in Aquaculture is defined as the production of aquatic plants and animals for human consumption. Under the pressure of the increasing world population on the one side and the stagnating or even declining fishery landings on the other side, aquaculture is considered the only option to respond to the growing demand for healthy and sustainable seafood.

This study program commits to developing fisheries and marine biotechnology concerning aquatic biota health biotechnology, aquaculture biotechnology, and fishery product biotechnology. Our vision is to become an independent, innovative, and advanced study program implementing morality aspects in developing science and technology relating to fisheries biotechnology at the national and international level.

MAR-BIO is a research-based Master's program combining competence from different Nordic countries to educate next-generation professionals within the area of blue growth and marine circular economy. Through an interdisciplinary approach, the students gain insight into the interaction between Fisheries, Aquaculture, Environment, Law, Management, Production and Utilisation of Marine Bio-resources.

A regular two-year program requires a minimum of 36 credits. The program is shaped into six modules to fulfil the knowledge branch of fisheries. The structure of our program is divided into two plans.

A comprehensive and versatile study programme, Master in Fishery and Protection of Waters explores the biological, ecological, and technological aspects of fisheries and water management as well as the issues related to the protection of the aquatic environment. The master's degree provides students with the knowledge and skills to design and carry out research in aquaculture and give professional answers, design and management of continental and marine facilities, environmental impact assessment and R+D+i needs, for the development of the aquaculture industry. . It is an interuniversity master's degree with the universities of A Coruña and Vigo.

With this Master's degree, the aim is to acquire advanced, specialized and multidisciplinary training, aimed at knowing the current state of research in the field of aquaculture.

This joint program combines the expertise of three Belgian universities on aquatic systems. It not only offers you an insight into the complexity of life and processes in marine environments and lakes. But it also comprises management, policy, commercial aspects of aquatic ecosystems, and law. This combination of disciplines makes it a unique program in Europe.

The programme seeks to train professionals for the aquaculture sector with a high level of scientific knowledge, a mastery of multidisciplinary techniques and the capacity to assume managerial responsibilities. It offers students the chance to develop the skills needed to carry out research, development and innovation in the public and private sectors.

Fishery and aquaculture products constitute one of the main sources of highly digestible animal protein and highly unsaturated fatty acids (omega 3), which is why their demand has doubled over the last three decades. However, fish catches, both of marine and continental origin, have stabilized at around 90 million tons, while the production of aquaculture fish has multiplied tenfold and stands at 56 million tons -38 of continental origin and 18 of marine origin-, according to data from the FAO. In the coming years, the increase in world population and the increase in per capita consumption -currently around 18 kilograms per person/year- will cause a considerable increase in the demand for fish, which will have to be supplied by aquaculture. .
