The MSc in Applied Mathematics program aims to provide high-level competencies for the formalization and the consequent mathematical analysis of problems arising from applied sciences and technologies, with a special focus on the analysis of big data systems and complex systems.

The master’s programme in Applied and Computational Mathematics fosters skilled applied mathematicians, well-prepared for advanced industrial positions or PhD studies. The programme offers four tracks: Computational Mathematics, Financial Mathematics, Optimisation and Systems Theory, and Mathematics of Data Science. Graduates acquire skills in advanced mathematics and computer simulation that are in demand in several important fields.

The program gives a comprehensive knowledge of several areas in applied mathematics. The advanced courses present state of the art issues of the given area, e.g. in statistical methods, financial mathematics, code theory, numerical methods, etc.

In the Applied mathematics program, you will learn to model and solve problems from the practical world using advanced mathematical methods. Aside from the basic mathematical principles, the Applied mathematics program will acquaint you with mathematical modeling, i.e. formulating complex problems in applications as mathematical problems, in order to analyze them and perform calculations digitally.

Applied Mathematics is concerned with the development and application of mathematical tools for the analysis and design of dynamical systems that appear in modern technology.

The aim of the MSc in Applied Mathematics master program is to train professionals who have a well-grounded mathematical and informational knowledge in a theoretically and practical way. They are able to gain knowledge in industrial, commercial, agricultural, logistics, communication, finance and computer science issues to be used for analysis, modelling and finding a solution for them.

The MSc Applied Mathematics & Theoretical Physics offers broad opportunities for future employment in research, development, predictive modeling and risk assessment, and informatics-related industry sectors. At UCD, this MSc program is developed in close connection with the Simulation Science and Computational Physics specialties, offering students robust training in computational methods on top of a solid theoretical and mathematical foundation.

The programme, offered by the Faculty of Pure and Applied Mathematics and run in cooperation with the Hugo Steinhaus Center, is based on educational standards of the European Consortium for Mathematics in Industry as confirmed by the status of ECMI Teaching Centre obtained by Wrocław University of Science and Technology in 2014. The curriculum is oriented towards real-life applications and industrial problems in educational style and contents

The Fundamental and Applied Mathematics Track (MFA) delivers extensive training in mathematics, developing skills ranging from pure mathematics such as algebra, analysis or geometry to more applied mathematics such as scientific computing, probability or statistics. The acquired skills will prepare you to model and understand complex phenomena that arise in fields like finance, biology or physics.

The Master of Science in Applied Mathematics program pairs a mathematical background with an additional focus area of the student’s choice. The interdisciplinary curriculum prepares students for careers and further study in high-performance computing, statistics, computer science, business and more.

This program offers a wide range of basic and more specialized courses in applied mathematics. This allows students to build a personalized curriculum adapted to their academic and professional projects and focus in the second year in the following areas: Statistics, Finance, and Actuarial science; Mathematical Modeling; Probability and Finance or Data Sciences.

The Master in Industrial Mathematics (M2I)* is a fusion of two official degrees, the Master in Mathematical Engineering, taught by the Universities of Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña and Vigo, and the Master in Industrial Mathematics, taught by the Carlos III University of Madrid.

The program offers up-to-date knowledge in areas of applied mathematics related to modeling with partial differential equations.
