8 Master of Fine Arts Degree Programs

The MFA is part of EICAR’s English-language curriculum and offers an intensive two-year Master of Fine Arts in Filmmaking. The program focuses on Film Production and Film and Television Directing, while allowing students to specialize in one of five final project tracks: Directing, Screenwriting, Cinematography, Producing, or Editing. Designed to reflect the realities of the film and television industries, the program places a strong emphasis on hands-on production, creative collaboration, and professional workflows. Students work in small groups and develop their projects through a team-based filmmaking process that mirrors real industry conditions. The MFA Filmmaking – Postgraduate is an intensive 2-year degree-granting postgraduate program accessible after a Bachelor’s degree, taught entirely in English, for international students wishing to develop professional expertise in directing and scriptwriting, taught in English in Paris.

The one-year Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing is taught live-online and offers aspiring and published writers a program which examines the process and practice of producing prose fiction. The Department of English, in partnership with Kingston University London (KUL), offers a dual degree program in which a student may earn a Master of Arts in English with a Concentration in Creative Writing from UNC Charlotte and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from KUL.

The MFA Communication programme interrogates the fundamental ways in which communication shapes our lives, and uses this knowledge to develop new ways of experiencing, interacting and communicating with the world. The programme makes space for conversation, inter-cultural exchange, new ideas and diverse voices. You will explore social, political, environmental and philosophical implications of communication practices and how these may be manifested within the your chosen field of practice.

The two-year Aardman RCA Animation MFA is a new programme, with its first intake in September 2027. The programme is a collaborative programme between the RCA and Aardman designed to develop your authorial voice across any animation technique, medium or genre.

The MFA in Film Art, offered jointly by Paris College of Art (PCA) and Edinburgh College of Art (ECA) at The University of Edinburgh, brings together the resources of two leading European art schools and the rich cultural contexts of Paris and Edinburgh. This two-year program is designed for emerging filmmakers eager to push the boundaries of moving images—treating film not only as a medium of storytelling, but also as a space for artistic experimentation and critical inquiry.
