The Master of Architecture program is a professional degree equivalent to the LAM Part II professional qualification. It is a continuation of LAM Part I, which is also offered under the Bachelor Science (Hons) Architecture programme at the Faculty of Built Environment UNIMAS.

The Master of Architecture, available both on-campus and online, is a three and a half year first professional program, and was the first online offering to achieve National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) accreditation. Our advanced education integrates ongoing, real-world design experience with creative classroom learning, offering hands-on opportunities and fostering valuable connections throughout your academic journey. If you possess additional architectural work and/or academic experience, you could be eligible to complete your Master of Architecture degree in just 2 years. The Master of Landscape Architecture (Professional) is a taught master’s degree for the purpose of registration as a candidate professional landscape architect with the South African Council for the Landscape Architectural Profession in terms of Act 45 of 2000, and is done by coursework, projects and a design investigation mini-dissertation and design project

The Diploma Programme aims to introduce students to the study of advanced architectural research and design methods, and new approaches to practice. Throughout its history, the Diploma Programme has fostered some of the most innovative, challenging and progressive thinking in architecture.

The master’s programme entails a personal yet critical, design-led, research-based investigation. It is a full-time, studio-based coursework programme. The Department’s research focus areas provide the impetus for students’ design investigations, encompassing the production of designs that respond to research findings and considering the inhabitants of the design and surrounding communities to ensure local relevance.

Accredited by the NAAB, this program meets all professional degree requirements for licensure as a registered architect. This combination links a professional design degree (M.Arch.) with a specialized degree (M.S. in Architecture) in one of three concentrations.

The Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) and Master of Urban Design (M.U.D.) dual degree at UNC Charlotte integrates professional architectural training with urban-scale design expertise to shape meaningful public spaces at the neighborhood and city levels.

The MArch Architecture is a Level 7, 240-credit postgraduate programme focused on creative, reflective, ethical and regenerative architectural practice. It combines design, making, materiality, collaboration, live projects and engagement with industry and sector partners.

The Master of Architecture and M.S. in Information Technology with a concentration in Human-Centered Design dual degree at UNC Charlotte offers a cutting-edge interdisciplinary education, integrating design thinking with computational logic.

This field is about designing ecological and cultural landscapes that incorporate multifunctional green infrastructure to help combat the challenges of biodiversity loss, climate adaptation, and food security. Several research projects exist in the field, usingquantitative and qualitative approaches within inter- and transdisciplinary groups.

The Design Research Laboratory (DRL) is a 16-month MArch design research programme that interrogates the broader relationships within and beyond architecture by considering the futures of living, work and culture through advanced methods in design, computation and manufacturing.

The Master's in Biomedical Engineering provides advanced training in various areas of the discipline. It allows for academic or professional specialization and encourages students to pursue research careers. Essentially, it aims to offer a qualification that complements and strengthens the training of Biomedical Engineering graduates.

The MArch Design Practice is a one-year programme that supports architects, designers, and spatial practitioners’ creative and critical engagement with the design of the built environment. With climate as a central focus, students will consider how reuse, materials, waste, and embodied carbon intersect with economics, politics, and identity to produce new opportunities for design practice in the just transition toward a fair and flourishing world. Students will critically engage with the planetary implications of construction and make bold, rigorous and informed design propositions through which a world otherwise can be built.
