The programme provides students with a solid scientific foundation to understand the interactions within various oceanic ecosystems, emphasizing the importance of their conservation. Students will develop practical skills through subjects which will include activities at sea and in laboratories.

The Master in Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (MMASc) aims to train professionals able to integrate in their specific activities the multidisciplinary characteristics (chemical, physical, geological, biological and social) involved in marine and atmospheric processes.

The Master's in Marine Sciences and Marine Resources (MCMRM) is a multidisciplinary program that prepares professionals for marine research, resource management, and sustainable exploration. Students specialize in Marine Biology and Ecology or Aquaculture and Fisheries, gaining skills in conservation, innovation, and responsible marine resource utilization.

To promote advanced formation, multi and interdisciplinary in scientific areas related to PhD in Environmental, Marine and Earth Sciences. Development of skills and scientific training at the highest level, including scientific analysis, innovation, critical thinking, decision-making and independent research work

Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Health and Wellfare, taught in English, combines Marine Sciences, Veterinary Sciences and Biotechnology. Over the course of three years, it prepares professionals to protect and restore marine ecosystems, work in aquaculture, conservation, food security and the Blue Bioeconomy.

The Master course in Applied Marine Biology (MAMB) at the University of Aveiro is taught by a team of internationally trained academics. It has excellent teaching and research facilities including ecology and molecular biology laboratories, infrastructures for experimentation and maintenance of living organisms, and it also benefits from the proximity of a natural laboratory, the Ria de Aveiro. The close interaction with the researchers of CESAM (Center for the Study of Marine and Environmental Sciences – an Associated Laboratory classified as Excellent in the last evaluation of the Foundation for Science and Technology http: //www.cesam .ua.pt), as well as access to ECOMARE (Laboratory for Innovation and Sustainability of Marine Biological Resources at the University of Aveiro), provide excellent multidisciplinary research opportunities in the field of Marine Sciences.

This Master in Marine Biology also benefits from its sharing of course units and interaction with other international master's programs and scientific research in the area of ​​biology and marine sciences associated with research centres with excellent indicators of scientific production and projects in the area of Marine Biology, namely the Center for Marine Sciences (CCMAR), which has been rated as EXCELLENT in the latest assessment by the Foundation for Science and Technology, a major Portuguese funding body.

The Bachelor's in Aquatic Sciences focuses on fundamental and applied biology, emphasizing marine biology, ecology, aquaculture, and environmental management. With a strong foundation in biology, chemistry, and statistics, students gain hands-on experience through research projects, lab work, and field studies.

The Master in Marine and Coastal Systems master programme (MaCS - SIMCO) integrates knowledge using an interdisciplinary approach. It focuses on the study of processes operating within the coastal and marine systems, subject to complex geological, physical, chemical, biological and social forcings.

International Master in Marine Biological Resources covers a wide, yet consistent, range of subjects related to the sustainable use of marine biological resources. With an emphasis on marine biological and ecological processes, the programme links the biology of marine organisms and environmental studies with subjects in marine policy and planning. 

The Master in Aquaculture and Fisheries has two specializations: one in Aquaculture and another in Fisheries. In addition to the predominant areas of the Aquaculture and Fisheries Sciences course, other important areas are Environmental Sciences and Biological Sciences.

The Doctoral Program Do*Mar - Marine Science, Technology and Management is a joint international PhD offered by the Universities of Aveiro, Minho, Trás-os-Montes-e-Alto-Douro, Porto, Vigo, Santiago de Compostela and Coruña, with the collaboration of CSIC - Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, the Instituto Español de Oceanografía, the University of St. Andrews, the Station Biologique de Roscof and the Institute of Oceanography of the University of S. Paulo as host partners.
