After nearly 20 years of offering its globally top-ranked e-Business Management Program, GSIM’s new MA in Digital Management aims for nurturing future leaders who can lead a global business in a digital society by utilizing digital technologies and culture to achieve business growth and to gain competitive advantage. Instructors for the program are professors with cutting-edge research on digital technologies, invited industrial practitioners, and guest speakers worldwide. The case method is a principal pedagogical means in most classes, in addition to others like simulations and real-life global virtual team projects. Our graduates will gain hands-on knowledge of cutting-edge digital technologies (Big Data, blockchain, AI, cloud computing, IoT, cybersecurity, etc.). This department contributes to the education and research on socio-economic studies focusing on fisheries distribution and management, information processing, and related fields. We seek to provide high quality, interdisciplinary education with the following student learning: 1. To demonstrate knowledge of socio-economic backgrounds covering production, distribution, and consumption. 2. To demonstrate knowledge of the fisheries industry in Japan and internationally. 3. To comprehend the industry in general by using the collected data and information. 4. To contribute to the distribution, management, and administration of the fisheries industry.

Students study the governmental and social systems, and management models required for sustainable development from the perspective of economics and management studies. GSUM aims to create leaders, advanced professionals, and practical researchers (from governmental/public institutions, private companies, non-profit organizations, etc.) who are able to solve urban management problems through the concepts of ‘Innovation’ and ‘Sustainability’ from the viewpoint of economics, management, policy sciences, regional studies, and law/public administration study.

In addition to cultivating fundamental management abilities required for activity in our diverse business society, students master the study of business administration from the perspectives of enterprises, Financial Accounting, local regions, and information. With Tottori Prefecture – where issues that Japan will face ten years from now are already coming to the forefront, such as the problems of decreasing birthrate and aging population – as the stage of learning, the Faculty nurtures students’ abilities to make proposals and take action. From the perspective of business administration, we foster human talent who can contribute to the creation of a society that coexists harmoniously with nature.

The Management Program admits five students annually in preparation for research and teaching careers in the management sciences and related fields of business administration. The program equips future leaders with the conceptual framework and specific skills needed to be successful in business administration. Students take the required courses of Accounting, Finance, Operations Research, Marketing Science, Management Information, Risk Management, Corporate Investment, Financial Engineering, and Statistics.

The graduate program of System Management is aimed to provide students various engineering techniques to analyze and optimize management, production, and information media systems. The program consists of the following three research fields: （1）Management system engineering, （2）Production system engineering, and （3）Information media engineering.

To be a human resource who understands the state and movement of society and economy and can utilize the power of management and information in the region and the world In the Department of Management Information, you will acquire practical skills related to "Management" and "Management Information", and also acquire a wide range of knowledge and skills related to IT. With regard to management, we will learn a wide range of knowledge necessary for the maintenance, development, and innovation of "organizations" such as companies and governments, and with regard to the information, we will also learn advanced fields from programming and data to AI and drones. By acquiring knowledge of both management and information, you will acquire the ability to discover, analyze, and solve problems in various environments in the real world, and communication skills that are indispensable for problem-solving through practical training and internships.・ We will improve our ability to collaborate and execute.

By studying the history and development of Japanese management style, this course provides a broad overview of political, economic, technological, legal and ethical forces that influence international management.

During the 1st year, you will learn the basics of economics, business management and psychology. Since the 2nd year, to acquire management skills of a new generation that meet the major changes in the social environment, you will study in 2 departments and 5 diff erent fi elds according to your interests.

In our fast-paced modern world characterized by rapid changes in the environment, and fierce competition in the marketplace, the study of management will equip individuals with the expertise and perspective required to operate in such competitive environments, therefore, achieving success. Expertise and perspective are indispensable in achieving the organizational objectives so important in the effective management of our ever-diminishing pool of resources. The capacity to apply critical thinking, and to undertake situational analysis in a real setting is actively practiced, cultivated, and encouraged throughout the department. The department, therefore, is equipped to support individuals wishing to gain these skills and to apply them in society.

The graduate program of Economics, Management, and Information Science has three research branches, Economics, Management, and Information Science, to provide high-level research and education applying to the undergraduate program. At the same time, this program provides education along with the development of each branch and the needs of the local economy. The Graduate Program in Economics, Management & Information Science focuses on fostering vocational specialists with rich specialized knowledge and practical experience. Needless to say, we accept ambitious students who wish to progress Ph.D. programs at other graduate schools to become professional researchers.

The Management Program admits 33 students annually. The program aims to educate promising students who wish to prepare themselves for teaching and research careers in academia or for responsible positions in research organizations or business enterprises. The program offers the following four specializations.
