Biomedical science is an interdisciplinary subject that combines both the areas of life science and medicine. Through this undergraduate programme, students can explore the essence of human beings, learn about biological and chemical systems of the human body and apply this interdisciplinary knowledge to medical issues that are related to health and diseases. Graduates are well equipped with a strong foundation for a career in health professions, and many graduates choose to pursue further studies in professional schools or to continue to a post-graduate study.

Bioinformatics is a multidisciplinary area of scientific study, that makes use of computing knowledge to understand biology. Through this undergraduate programme, students can learn to create tools with computer science, statistics, and information technology for processing and analyzing biological data. This programme well equips students with hands-on skills to handle large sets of biological data, such as those extracted from Big Data – the most popular subject in contemporary science. Bioinformatics is an important element for the development of a smart city. Graduates with these skills are most demanded in the medical sector, as well as biomedical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnological industries.

With the advances in technology, there is an increasing trend in applying large-scale, high-output approaches and techniques in biology and medical research, to generate large data. Hence, a huge amount of data is constantly generated and stored in databases. There is a strong need to process the information and extract knowledge quickly from this rapidly growing collection of data, which defines the discipline of Data Science. There are seven specializations in this programme, and “Precision Medicine” is one of them. Students of this specialization learn and study how a large pool of data can be practically and effectively applied in Precision Medicine, which is an emerging approach for disease treatment and prevention that takes into account individual variability in genes, environment, and lifestyle for each person. Graduates are well equipped with a strong foundation for a career in interdisciplinary work in biomedical and big data analytics in the medical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology sectors.

he Programme is designed for experienced registered nurses working in different specialties in the provision of health care. They have to study on a part-time self-directive basis, where the selected teaching and learning strategies will address this characteristic. Teaching strategies include lectures, seminars, small group tutorials, laboratory demonstrations and practices, discussions, and case studies. The subjects also adopt multimedia strategies, e-learning approaches, and clinical field observation and practice with endeavours to facilitate the integration of theoretical knowledge into clinical practice. Another key feature of the Programmes is the practicum subject which provides a platform for students to apply the advanced practising nurses' roles into the respective area of expertise. Students will develop their own learning objectives which are consistent with their specialty subject objectives. The written contract should address individually defined professional goals, supporting resources, and actions/activities that facilitate the achievement of established objectives as well as outcomes evaluation. Experienced nursing specialists in the field will be invited to act as preceptors to facilitate students’ up-to-date practice, while critically examining the development of current practices.
