Students who select the MA option must complete a minimum of 30 credit hours of graduate coursework. MA students must take Graduate Seminar (1 credit per semester) during each semester they are actively enrolled in the program.

Students develop specific expertise in their chosen major and minor fields, with elective options including Race and Urban Development; Principles of Demography; and Race, Gender and Class. Students also have the option to complete criminology courses as electives for the MA in Sociology.

The Visual Development MA program provides professional development with advanced coursework in still life painting, figure drawing, character design, concept painting, layout design for animation, and other core skills of professional visual developers.

The MA in Graphic Design & Digital Media emphasizes professional and career development with advanced study of the field and encourages students to extend their design skills into content creation, authorship, entrepreneurialism, and social innovation.

The MA Jewelry & Metal Arts program introduces professional practice in studio coursework, design, and concept. Graduate students focus on fabrication and casting skills, laser-cutting techniques, and exploring material choices.

Situated in the heart of the culturally rich city of Washington, DC, the Master of Arts (MA) program in Art History at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design provides students with unique opportunities to study the arts. Students learn to apply visual and historical analyses to artworks, as well as incorporate relevant and current theoretical and methodological approaches to research.

In the Master of Arts in Political Science program, students develop a foundation of academic study in their field of interest. Our two-year, 33-unit MA in Urban and Public Affairs offers a range of graduate seminars on urban studies, politics, and public policy. A 200-hour internship is required, as well as a Capstone Project that synthesizes your research and internship experience on a policy area of your choice.
