MA in Anthropology The Anthropology MA is designed to provide students with a strong grounding in the principles and methods of Anthropology. It offers the opportunity to study innovative modules taught by leading experts in key anthropological fields, including Conflict and Borders, Religion, Cognition and Culture, Anthropology of Europe, Material Culture and Art, Migration and Diasporas, Anthropology of Ireland, Human-Animal relations and the cross-cultural study of Emotions.

The MA History program at Queen’s is designed to offer an innovative package of modules that challenges students to develop their knowledge and skills and flourish in their area of interest or future specialism. Our Faculty have research specialisms across a range of chronological and geographical areas. We have areas of particular strength in ancient, medieval, early modern, and contemporary history in Ireland, Britain, the USA, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

This is a unique and innovative interdisciplinary programme taught through subject areas that include law, anthropology, English, history, philosophy, politics, psychology, sociology and the creative arts. Module choice within the programme will permit you to build your own personalised portfolio of knowledge and learning within the area of conflict transformation and social justice. You will be taught by academics and practitioners whose expertise is both national and global and who offer research-led teaching in areas of conflict such as South/ Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Southern Europe, South America and Northern Ireland. Queens University offers the only global interdisciplinary MA programme on Conflict Transformation and Social Justice.

The MA in Politics is a broad-based programme, offering students a good grounding in the discipline of political science. This MA gives students the opportunity to engage with core theories, concepts, issues and debates in politics. Students may tailor their programme to their own interests by their choice of optional modules and dissertations, from Irish politics and European politics to political theory and comparative politics, which build on the strengths of the school's research.

MA in Arts Management Our aim is to provide MA Arts Management students with an advanced understanding of the subject of Arts Management. The programme includes prose writing (fiction and creative non-fiction) and script writing (screen and stage), and invites you to explore all these modes of writing before choosing a specialism

The MA Translation aims to enable students to develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of the prevailing theories and practices of translation through intellectual and interactive inquiry and advanced translation practice. Provide grounding in the field of Translation Studies, defined as theory and practice, that will enable students both to undertake independent research and/or work as professional translators.

MA in English - Poetry Poetry is, quite simply, the activity for which Queen’s University is best known around the world. Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney was both a student and lecturer here at Queen’s and other famous poet-alumni of the university include Ciaran Carson, Paul Muldoon, and Medbh McGuckian.

MA in Geopolitics How does climate change reshape global politics? What will the world look like with the rise of China as a new superpower? Are international conflicts shifting the international balance of power? Will technology save us? How will a mainly urbanized world sustain itself? As the international scene becomes increasingly complex, understanding the fundamentals of how people, governments, international institutions, and the environment interact is becoming increasingly important.

This MA in Interpreting is designed to provide students with in-depth knowledge and understanding of the contexts and practices of professional interpretation, enabling students to develop the skills upon which professional interpreter competence is predicated. Competence in autonomous and lifelong learning, which enables students to apply the interpreting, communication, and learning skill set they have acquired to any other career of their choice, including starting their own business as a freelancing professional.

This MA is an intensive program providing you with a solid foundation in media-based storytelling by combining in-depth research methods with a practical, hands-on approach to learning. It will teach you how to record and edit in audio and video formats; how to research, produce, script, and edit your own material, whether it is short features or long-form documentaries; and how to produce stories for radio, TV, and interactive online platforms. To do this, you’ll also learn effective interviewing techniques. This MA will teach you how to identify a good story and then how to research and pitch it for a successful commissioning outcome.

MA in International Relations This program provides a foundation in the academic discipline of International Relations - the array of ‘real world’ practices and problems that produce world politics. Having introduced the theoretical and methodological components that facilitate our study of the field, the aim is to use these tools to examine, explain, and understand the issues and processes that make up our world: looking, for example, at war; diplomacy; arms control and arms proliferation; global health policy; humanitarian intervention; international development policy; race and legacies of colonialism; human displacement; inequality and injustice.
