The MA (Clinical Psychology) program leads to registration as a Clinical Psychologist with the Professional Board of Psychology of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). This full-time program encompasses the broad spectrum of Clinical Psychology. The MA (Counselling Psychology) program leads to registration as a Counselling Psychologist with the Professional Board of Psychology of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). This full-time program encompasses the broad spectrum of Counselling Psychology. The program consists of a research component (completion of a minor dissertation) as well as attending workshops, contact sessions, and practical work.

This Program provides integrated professional and advanced academic training equipping the student to function as a Clinical Psychologist and leads the student to be able to apply for an internship in Clinical Psychology and, thereafter, undergo a Professional Board Exam in Clinical Psychology. After successful completion of a Professional Board Exam, the student can then apply to the Professional Board for Psychology of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) for registration as a Clinical Psychologist. Such registration will be subject to any professional conditions and requirements stipulated by the Professional Board for Psychology and the HPCSA at the time of registration.

The Department of English Literary Studies at UCT recently launched a revised coursework Master's degree that foregrounds research into English Literary Studies in the global South. The new MA aims to equip a new generation of postgraduate students to conduct research into the compelling issues that arise in our discipline at a time when questions of canonicity are under revision and new approaches to literary studies are generating new archives and addressing the coloniality of received archives. The course helps to equip students to develop their own research paths and would make excellent preparation before moving into the PhD

Students accepted for this course are required to research, write and present a full dissertation (approximately 120 pages), under the guidance of a supervisor. The Department is able to supervise topics in most areas under the general ambit of English studies, including South African literary Studies and Post Colonialism; Text Editing; Medieval, Renaissance, and Romantic Studies; and Contemporary Fiction.

The program offers an MA via research leading to a dissertation of around 120 pages. The dissertation is prepared for examination under the guidance of a supervisor with expertise in your choice of topic.

This programme offers integrated academic, practical and professional training in counselling psychology. The programme is a one-year full-time programme and is based on the researcher (50%)-practitioner (50%) model. All credits within all the modules need to be passed to obtain the MA (Counselling Psychology) degree.

The coursework MA in Greek is basically aimed at students who would like to do a shorter dissertation together with two examined modules. An intensive course in the Greek language is offered for students to enter the course with an Honours Degree in Classical Civilisation.

The MA Coursework program consists of two-course work modules (one offered in the first semester and one in the second semester), and a minor dissertation. The course work modules have a weighting of 45 credits each.

The MA Politics Research Master’s program covers issues in Politics and International Relations. A student has to write a dissertation on a selected theme from either the fields of Political Science or International Relations, giving evidence of a critical approach and research capability. An article ready for publication has to be submitted along with the dissertation.

For the research degree, students write a dissertation of approximately 45,000 words under supervision, on a topic selected in consultation with the Department. The topic must be in line with the expertise of the available lecturers. The MA by Coursework curriculum consists of six compulsory modules.

The purpose of the MA in Design (Graphic Design) is to educate and train researchers who can contribute to the development of knowledge at an advanced level. The Master’s Degree is earned by completing a single advanced research project, culminating in the production and acceptance of a dissertation.
