6 Sculpture MA Degree Programs

The Master in Fine Arts is the natural continuation of the Bachelor of Arts in Painting and Visual Arts and Sculpture and Installations. Nevertheless, it may also be attended by students who come from other educational backgrounds and who wish to complete their studies by studying contemporary art.

The MFA provides an immersive education in the development of professional practice as an artist. As an MFA graduate, you will produce a final exhibition, the quality of which will demonstrate that you have developed the knowledge and skills necessary to survive and thrive as a practising artist.

The study of sculpture is ever-expanding and includes object-making, public art and social practices, site and space, performance, sound, film and video. Rather than only considering the specific manifestations of sculpture, we prefer to think of it as a methodology from which to progress the production of art.

During the course of their graduate studies, students in the Sculpture Program are familiarized with skills relating to plastic art and self-expression, materials used in sculpture, as well as various traditional and modern techniques. This is the only program at HUFA that provides basic courses to all first year students, which facilitate an exploration of the main aspects of sculptural trends, techniques and materials from a creative position. The curriculum is supplemented for students higher up in their studies by thematic assignments, the planning of exhibition concepts and the invitation of Hungarian and international guest lecturers.

In addition to conventional, “old-school” sculpting techniques, the Academy offers alternative syllabuses. Parallel with real space sculpture we propose a new concept of sculpture and its environment employing new technologies.

Anadolu University Graduate School of Fine Arts was founded in 1992. The School started offering graduate studies in the academic year 2008-2009 with the programmes in Graphic Arts, Ceramic Arts, Sculpture, Interior Design, Animation, Painting, Printmaking, Music, Drama, Musical Instrument Construction and Arts. In the fall semester of 2009-2010, the School launched a programme in glass arts. Currently, with its 12 graduate study programmes, the Graduate School of Fine Arts aims to integrate into the society individuals furnished with academic knowledge and experience and competent in their field of study, in line with contemporary developments in arts.
