10 Religious Education MA Degree Programs

Now more than ever, religion plays a major role in national and international politics. On this course you’ll research the role of religion in politics and society, strengthening your skills as a global citizen.

The 13-month M.A. in Holistic Education program provides a “fifth year” of advanced study leading to licensure for those who have completed a baccalaureate degree from the Templar School of Education. This M.A. cannot be taken as a stand-alone program. During the local public or Christian school year, candidates serve an internship that begins on the first-day teachers return to the classroom and continues through the teachers’ final day. Interns complete base placements in their primary licensure area with two alternative placements in the other areas of licensure, other grade levels, and in public and Christian schools in various combinations. Successful completion of the program leads to licensure from the Tennessee State Board of Education; certification by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI); and a Master of Arts degree from Johnson University.

The master's program in Catholic Educational Leadership prepares graduates for effective leadership as administrators in Catholic elementary and secondary schools and for diocesan positions. The program consists of 30 credits, 24 of which are core credits.

The MA in Applied Rabbinic Theology provides those studying for Rabbinic Ordination with the opportunity to combine the study of biblical and rabbinic texts at MA level with commensurate congregational and pastoral work and analysis, thus heightening the synergy between them. In addition, students will have the opportunity to study creative and comparative liturgy, Jewish responses to theodicy and readings in modern Jewish thought.

The Good Shepherd's Catechesis is a Montessori–based religious formation program for children aged three to twelve years. It seeks to create and facilitate a sacred, hands-on space called an "atrium" in which both children and catechists hear, ponder, and celebrate the essential mysteries of the Christian faith revealed in Scripture and liturgy.

The MA in Ministry Leadership Program is designed to prepare graduates for careers in a variety of settings including but not limited to: Churches (pastors, educational leaders, para-church professionals, missionaries, youth leaders, teachers, worship leaders, and chaplains) Chaplaincies in various communities and venues

The standalone MA in Church Leadership is designed for those students who already have a bachelor’s degree and want to complete graduate studies in ministry.

The MA in Chaplaincy Studies and Pastoral Work course provides the academic, pastoral, spiritual, personal and professional development for those already working or wishing to work in the above contexts who seek to enrich their skills in the areas of Faith Development, Chaplaincy and Chaplaincy Coordination.

The Master of Theology is an English-taught intensive master’s programme, accredited by the Dutch-Flemish accreditation organisation. It starts in September each academic year and lasts for one year (60 ECTS).

The Master of Arts in Theology prepares you for ministry within the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
