The United States Foreign Policy and National Security (USFP) program will prepare you to be an effective international affairs practitioner. We have designed the program to enable students to step into a variety of jobs that demand the knowledge and analytic skills of a professional with expertise in US foreign and national security policy. Our graduates work in the intelligence community, the White House, executive branch agencies such as the State and Defense Departments, Congress, private sector consulting firms, think tanks, non-governmental organizations, and international organizations.

Being overwhelmed by many security issues in public policy, it is more important than ever to understand this dynamic process, to be able to assess emerging risks, threats, and their management mechanisms.

Graduate studies in National Security are a field of study that allows preparing human resources at various levels of administration and state services to implement tasks related to state security. Education includes knowledge in the legal basis of security, security policy, crisis management, logistics in crises, and international political and military relations.

For decades, the State of Israel has been addressing complex national security challenges. Designed in partnership with Israel's globally renowned National Security College, our International program in National Security introduces students to pressing, complex, real-time national security dilemmas, conflicts, and processes in Israel and other regions. The program is ideal for students pursuing a career in governmental, security, and private organizations, who wish to explore and address strategic social, political, ethical, diplomatic, economic, and military dimensions of national security.

The Master of Arts (MA) in Security and Strategic Studies offered at the American University in the Emirates (AUE) is a rigorous interdisciplinary program that combines both theory and practice. It identifies, analyzes, and addresses current and emerging security challenges and threats. The program prepares students through educational and research-led courses for national and international positions. The program’s curriculum standards are framed according to the QF of Emirates level 9 and the CAA standards. Graduate students are provided with a broad but also specialized knowledge in regional and global, security and strategic affairs. Students with an interdisciplinary approach and knowledge but also working-related experiences are welcome to apply. The MA in Security and Strategic Studies is designed for professionals and academically qualified graduates with B.A. or other higher degrees from the field of International Relations, Political Science, International Studies, Security and Strategic Studies, Law, Humanities or a closely related or inter-related fields such as communication, and business with specialization to security, strategy, and international affairs.

The Citadel’s Master of Arts in Intelligence and Security Studies (ISS) prepares students to enhance national security through intelligence and homeland security leadership. Best practices for intelligence collection and analysis and national security combined with current theory, research, and experience give students the background necessary to cultivate critical thinking, concise writing, and effective briefing. By introducing applicable management principles and policy analysis, the program fosters the leadership skills to successfully address security and intelligence challenges facing the United States.

Offered in a Saturday Accelerated Format or Fully Online. We are the only institution in the Pittsburgh region to offer a Master of Arts degree in intelligence and global security, designed for individuals seeking employment or promotion within the U.S. intelligence community or non-government intelligence and global security entities.

Education in the field of internal security is interdisciplinary. Students gain general knowledge of law and administration, organization and management, psychology, sociology, etc., in conjunction with specialist, practical knowledge about threats to state security, health, life and property of citizens, information security, crisis management and maintenance of public order.

The Master of Arts in Homeland Security offers an advanced-level understanding of homeland defense, intelligence methods, terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, consequence management, interagency government issues, emergency management, public health, and information security. Members of the homeland security enterprise – such as the Department of Homeland Security, state and local public safety entities, and large corporations – are aggressively searching for people who have the advanced education required to become intellectual and strategic leaders in this field.

The educational program for the field of state defense studies with a practical profile is the result of consultations between the academic community and representatives of the economy, local administration, as well as institutions and organizations dealing with state defense and security.
