The MFA Fine Art programme is aimed at artists and recent graduates who want to advance their art practices, engage with the relationships between contemporary art and theory and consider what art might be in relation to today’s social, cultural and political situations.

DCU’s MA in International Relations, the oldest of its kind in Ireland, offers an inclusive, multidisciplinary approach with expert faculty and a diverse student body. The programme covers international politics, human rights, trade, and security, with elective courses, small classes, and a dissertation, completed full-time in 12 months or part-time over two years.

The MA is a unique and innovative interdisciplinary programme that provides students with the academic knowledge and practical skills to resolve disputes between parties in a non-adversarial manner. Upon successful completion of the MA, students receive a QQI Level 9 academic qualification. Dispute resolution is one of the fastest-growing fields and academic disciplines both in Ireland and internationally, offering professional opportunities in the corporate, legal, educational, political, HR, health, and community settings, as well as many others.

This programme enables students to examine and research the rich subject area of Irish history from the earliest times to the present day, and to assess the major events which led to the emergence of modern Ireland.

The MA in Literature & Culture is our flagship MA programme in English-language literature and culture. Students work with leading international scholars and world-class teachers, who have expertise in a wide range of areas, from the literature of the Middle Ages to the modern and contemporary.

The Dual MA in International War Studies will be offered by University College Dublin and the University of Potsdam. Students will spend one academic year in each institution. The MA will enable students to experience two different academic structures.

The MA in Politics is a one-year, full-time programme that enables students to choose the areas they wish to specialise in within the field of politics. This is a truly flexible programme that enables students to tailor the degree to their own interests, skills and future career plans. The only core modules that the MA in Politics students will be required to complete will be the two research methods modules that are common to all our postgraduate taught degrees. In addition, they can choose any two electives in the first semester and any three in the second.

The MA in Geography is designed for students who wish to deepen their understanding of key geographical ideas and themes, develop their critical thinking skills, undertake independent research in an area of specialist interest, and significantly enhancing their professional skills. 

This 2-year intensive conversion course effectively incorporates the Higher Diploma in Professional Accounting in year 1 and the 1 year MA Accounting in year 2. First year students are required to achieve an average of at least 60% in their first year modules to remain on the course.

Applied Linguistics (International) MA is about exploring language in use in a wide variety of real-world situations and contexts (technology, education, institutions, politics, media, the economy and wider society).

The MA in Anthropology is an advanced degree in socio-cultural anthropology in which students are given a comprehensive introduction to the theoretical underpinnings of the discipline, a block of modules that open up and explore the conceptual and methodological core of the discipline, and a series of specialised modules that show the range of socio-cultural anthropology today.

The MA in Critical and Creative Media is an innovative course that combines critical thinking and cutting edge production skills to tackle the challenging environment of contemporary media practices.
