In the Master’s Programme in English Studies at the University of Helsinki, you develop your expertise in areas that are often separated in other programmes: English language and linguistics, literature in English and the teaching of English. You can take courses in all three areas or just focus on one of them.

Nordic Master in folk music (Nofo) is an international master’s programme arranged as a collaboration between four higher education institutions. Together with your fellow students, you will form a tight-knit ensemble that performs regularly during the course of the studies. Live Art and Performance Studies (LAPS) is a two-year master’s programme in English that combines critical thinking with experimentation in artistic work and artistic research. We empower you to develop and activate new knowledge of performance and its theory. As a student of our programme, you will be committed to studying full-time.

The master’s programme in dance performance consists of two years of full-time studies that develop your skills as a performer and as an independent and reflective artist. After graduating, you will be ready to work in the diverse and changing contexts of dance art. You will develop as a solo performer and as an active member of an artistic team.

The Music Business Master’s Programme is structured around three main tracks: music and social dynamics of the field; industry (managerial, economic and business); and academic (research-based). Each track provides a distinctive approach and perspective to the field of music business, enabling students to customise their academic journey to align with their career aspirations. The programme is aimed at artists, music professionals, entrepreneurs and researchers.

In the Master's Programme in Linguistic Diversity and Digital Humanities (Previously: Linguistic Diversity in the Digital Age), you may deepen your understanding of the nature and diversity of human language and the theoretical and digital tools for working with language and speech.

European and Nordic studies (ENS) is an interdisciplinary master’s programme that takes you on a deep dive into current European and Nordic politics, societies, and cultures. It is intended for students who want to explore European issues and phenomena from various angles and understand the roots of current developments.
