8 MA Degree Programs in Cyprus

The Department of English Studies offers postgraduate programs at the master's level and supervision by research at the doctoral level, leading to an MA and Ph.D., respectively. All postgraduate programs are watched over by a three-member committee, which is appointed every two years. The Committee is chaired by a Postgraduate Coordinator. While there are no taught Ph.D. programs, the Department does offer Ph.D. degree schemes in subjects related to all research interest areas of its academic faculty.

The program is designed for students interested in understanding central issues and challenges in the interdisciplinary study of peace, conflict, and democracy globally.

The programme is primarily designed for those interested in the scientific investigation of language. It is designed for students who are interested in linguistics as a field of study and who wish to explore both its theoretical foundations and practical applications. 

The Interdepartmental Postgraduate Programme in Byzantine Studies and the Latin East, with the participation of philologists, historians, art-historians and archaeologists, presents a unique and path-breaking opportunity to explore the Byzantine and, more generally, the Medieval world from various perspectives.

The MA in ‘Special (Inclusive) Education’ provides students with the knowledge and skills to support the inclusion of special needs children and adults in education. The program offers insight into education policy and practice, encouraging students to consider the challenges and solutions to ensuring greater inclusion. Students gain an understanding of a range of impairments, along with the skills to meet special educational needs in mainstream institutions of learning.

The Master of Arts program in ‘Early Childhood Education’ provides candidates with an in-depth specialization in the field of education of 3 to 8-year-olds and helps shape their professional expertise. Masters students are equipped to assess education theories and recent research, to engage in their own research and attain the capacity to seek a doctoral qualification.

The Master of Arts program in ‘Technologies of Learning and Communication’ is geared to prepare educators and administrators in the field to acquire expert knowledge and training in new technologies in Learning and Communication. It seeks to nurture the skills and in depth understanding of this fast changing field to allow candidates to explore and implement contemporary learning methods, tools and contexts and promote the utilization of new technologies in teaching and learning.

The ‘Education Leadership’ program aims to develop essential knowledge and skills in the theory and practice of management and leadership in education. Students are expected to attain competence across a spectrum of relevant subject areas and themes, including innovation in schools; education and technology; communication and conflict resolution; organizational culture and resource management; public policy; systems of inspection and review; and the philosophy of leadership in education.
