It is an interuniversity doctoral program specialized in the area of Logic and Philosophy of Science, carried out by institutions of recognized national and international excellence. His lines of research are: argumentation and logic, philosophy of language and mind, philosophy of science, and social studies of science and technology.

The program focuses on logic and its applications in the philosophy of science, particularly in the foundations of mathematics, physics, linguistics, and the social sciences. Beyond a few core courses and a joint four-semester seminar series providing a common background to all students, we offer the following four thematic groups of courses: Logic and the Philosophy of Mathematics, Foundations of Physics, Logic in Linguistics, and Models in the Social Sciences – the student has to choose 7 courses offered in these modules.

This Inter-University Master's Degree has been jointly conceived by the University of Valladolid, University of Salamanca and University of Granada as an academic and research master's degree, offering its graduates a privileged position to produce their own internationally relevant research in the field of Logic, History and Philosophy of Science and in the field of Philosophy of Language. This Master's Degree gives direct access to the Doctorate in Logic and Philosophy of Science. Its blended teaching nature, with on-line tutorials, facilitates the incorporation of foreign students and secondary education teachers, both in philosophical, scientific and humanistic subjects.

The master's degree in Pure and Applied Logic is designed to provide advanced training in logic, in both its pure and applied forms. Successful students will have to chance to take their first steps in research in the principal areas of logic, pursue further studies, or move into professional careers.

In the Summer Course in Logic as a Tool for Modeling, participants will be consistently encouraged to contemplate how logic can be applied to their specific fields of interest. Logic is the study of different types of reasoning. Logic is also a technology, a tool for elegantly modelling diverse phenomena.

Permitted combinations for this program are single-curriculum or double-curriculum study, which may be combined with any other master’s program where double-curriculum study with this program is permissible.

The Master’s Degree in Philosophical Knowledge: Foundations, Methods, Applications (Joint Degree) is jointly offered by the University of Bergamo, University of Pavia, & IUSS Pavia entirely in English.
