The Illinois LLM program is designed to prepare students with or without any prior legal training to excel in their professional careers. Foreign-educated students in the LLM program are introduced to the U.S. legal system and provided the opportunity to specialize in their own area of academic or professional interest. U.S.-trained lawyers can also enhance their legal expertise to meet their professional and career goals in the LLM program.

The LL.M. program is designed for international students with a first degree in law. The program requires at least two semesters of full-time study in residence. In addition to the traditional LLM, degree options include an LLM with Thesis, for students interested in academic legal writing, and a number of LLM Specializations, for students interested in a specific area of law.

This online LLM in international law, representing 26 US credits (40-45 ECTS) is one of the world’s only two LLM degree programs offered by an intergovernmental organization constituted under international law (the other being offered by the European University Institute).

This is a General LLM. The core module is Research and Dissertation, and there is a wide range of elective modules to choose from.

The LLM in U.S. Law program is designed for attorneys and law school graduates educated outside of the United States. Candidates for the LLM in  U.S. Law are enrolled in two required courses, Intro to U.S. Law and Legal Writing and Research. Other courses are electives and may be taken in any area of law. Students have the option of pursuing a Concentration in one of six popular areas of law.

An LLM in Corporate Law provides the ideal foundation for specializing in this popular focus area. UJ is unique in offering four dedicated corporate law modules.
