Our Entertainment Law LLM combines academic analysis and commercial practice elements of entertainment law from an international perspective. The diverse nature of entertainment law will enable you to follow a number of relevant specialisms, all of which are underpinned by issues of contract and intellectual property. The course is for you if you're a graduate from a law background or if you're from a non-law background but have significant relevant experience. The Media and Entertainment Law course will develop your academic knowledge and awareness of issues in media and entertainment law and increase your understanding of the legal dimension of activities taking place in the media and entertainment fields and the extent to which they might give rise to legal issues.

The Technology, Media and Telecommunications Law programme draws on our established teaching and research expertise in IT law, e-commerce law, telecommunications law, computer law and media law. You will examine the complex issues concerning national and international law while exploring current and developing policies.

The Master of Intellectual Property and ICT Law provides an in-depth study of international and European IP law, ICT law and media and communications law. Special attention is paid to the interdisciplinary perspectives and practical skills that are in demand in these sectors

The George Washington University Law School has been a leader in intellectual property education and scholarship for more than a hundred years. When GW Law established a Master's of Patent Law program in 1895, its alumni had already written the patents for Bell's the telephone, Mergenthaler's the linotype machine, and Eastman's roll the film camera, among hundreds of other inventions, and dozens of more alumni had worked in the Patent Office.

In a data economy, businesses have large amounts of data available that enable them to make data-based decisions (data-driven management, “DDM”). This applies not only to tech companies, but increasingly to data-intensive SMEs and start-ups. In many instances automated systems (e.g. artificial intelligence) are used to prepare or make business decisions on the basis of data or in the context of innovation processes. However, various legal issues arise from the different stages in the data life cycle. Thus, data-driven decision making and data-oriented businesses require a broad spectrum of competences and skills: an intertwined technical understanding, management know-how and profound legal knowledge.

This LLM provides an opportunity to analyse the impact of technology, media, and telecommunications law on traditional legal principles. Students will explore complex legal issues and learn to apply their knowledge to current events and cases.
