10 Comparative Law LLM Degree Programs

The Master of Laws is a postgraduate degree in law from the United States with subjects focused on the practice of oral litigation techniques aimed at lawyers from Latin America involved in the implementation of Oral Trials in criminal and civil matters. The courses are taught entirely in Spanish and online, starting in summer 2023.

The International & Comparative Law concentration offers a directed, optional program of study for LL.M. students. Students have the opportunity to receive specialized training in the field and select the classes that are most relevant to their areas of expertise. A concentration designation will appear on the transcript, giving students a competitive advantage in the legal employment market. Students retain the ability to elect a few courses outside of their concentration in other areas of interest or to prepare for the bar exam.

Clients demand that their lawyers be skilled in international and comparative law. Transactional lawyers need to be able to negotiate complex international contracts. Advocates must be capable of appearing before a domestic court, an arbitration panel, or an international tribunal to argue cutting-edge issues relating to international law.

This programme is established since Academic Year 2003/2004 which aims to provide quality education and training in the fields of European Union Law, International Law and Comparative Law, and to maintain and enhance the position of the Faculty of Law of University of Macau as an important institute for the studies of Macao Law, European Continental Law, International Law and Comparative Law in the regional areas as well as this global world.

The LLM in U.S. Law program is designed for attorneys and law school graduates educated outside of the United States. Candidates for the LLM in  U.S. Law are enrolled in two required courses, Intro to U.S. Law and Legal Writing and Research. Other courses are electives and may be taken in any area of law. Students have the option of pursuing a Concentration in one of six popular areas of law.

The curriculum of the Master of Laws in Comparative Constitutional Law covers issues concerning the development and operation of constitutional government in its broader political, social, historical, regional, and international context. The core curriculum centers on fundamental issues in comparative constitutional law regarding constitution-making and constitutional design, constitutional government (horizontal and vertical separation of powers), and constitutional rights protection in leading, emerging, and declining constitutional democracies around the world.

Criminology can be described as the study of crime, people who commit crime, and the criminal justice system. The MA in Comparative Criminology and Criminal Justice gives students the opportunity to develop a specialist knowledge of debates around crime causation and control, within a comparative and international context.

The International and Comparative Law track offers U.S. and foreign law graduates and lawyers opportunities to gain practical and theoretical knowledge in selected areas of international and comparative law, with an emphasis on international business and commercial law; learn the skills of legal research, analysis, and communication essential to understanding and applying international law and succeeding as a professional in this area

The Master of Laws in US Law (LLM) & Master of Comparative Law (MCL) Program is designed to prepare lawyers from other countries to work knowledgeably with lawyers in the United States on questions of common interest arising under either their own or the US legal system.
