The LLM program structure at Peking University School of Transnational Law (STL) is characterized by diversity and flexibility. Five institutions organize the LL.M. in Transnational Commercial Practice. The Center for International Legal Studies (Salzburg, Austria) has more than 5,000 lawyer members throughout the world. The Law Faculty of Lazarski University (Warsaw, Poland) has ranked first among Polish university law faculties for the last seven years. Eötvös Loránd University (Budapest, Hungary), founded in 1635, ranks as the leading law faculty in Hungary. The Center for Financial Law and Policy at Lixin University is based in Shanghai, China, Boston University School of Law (Boston, Massachusetts) was established in 1872 and ranks in the top 25 of more than 200 law schools accredited by the American Bar Association.

Founded in 1933, the Law Department of Yunnan University has been one of the earliest juristic schools in the southwestern area of China. In 1952, the department was moved to Chongqing on the basis of the national faculty adjustment, together with other law schools to form the Southwest College of Political Science and Law. In 1980, the Law Department of Yunnan University was rebuilt and began to enroll new students in the following year. In 1999, the law and economic law departments of the former Yunnan Junior College of Politics and Law merged into the new School of Law of Yunnan University, being the most crucial juristic education and research center in Yunnan province.

The Master of Laws (Research) provides an opportunity for graduates to develop their research skills, deepen their knowledge in some area of the law and undertake original research. The degree is awarded to candidates who demonstrate competence in research, an understanding of research methods and an ability to make an original contribution to knowledge.

This course gives students the opportunity to build specialist legal skills in their area of professional practice, as well as theoretical and practical research capabilities as they relate to the study of the law.
