The Master of Studies in Law (MSL) program is a non-professional, terminal degree program designed for those who do not plan to practice law or take a bar exam, but want to increase their understanding of the law and legal analysis.

The legal studies concentration focuses on developing these abilities and preparing students for careers in a global environment that requires increasing awareness of cultural and political diversity.

Paralegal Studies is an associate degree program intended to train a generalist paralegal. Graduates from the associate degree program will have a strong foundation in the areas of legal research and writing, contracts, torts, criminal law and property law.

The Master of Legal Studies (MA) program objective is to help students apply select business and legal practices and theories in order to establish and maintain legal compliance while achieving desired business goals.

The Associate of Science in Administration of Justice: Legal Studies Emphasis course of study is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in municipal and county law enforcement agencies (i.e. police or sheriffs departments), and/or to transfer to Bachelor's degree programs in Criminal Justice or related fields to prepare for federal or state-level law enforcement positions (i.e., FBI, DEA, INS, etc.)

The Doctor of Legal Studies (PhD) goal is to help students understand existing legal rules and doctrines, with their underlying policy arguments, so that they can think about these arguments, prepare to present an argument and let their own voices be heard.

The Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies program at Stevenson University is dedicated to equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in both paralegal careers and admission to law school. As a pioneer in the field, our program was the first in Maryland, and one of the first in the nation, to receive approval as a paralegal education program by the prestigious American Bar Association (ABA).

This course of study is designed to prepare students for a career in law (i.e. legal assistant, court reporter) or a law enforcement-related field and/or to transfer to Bachelor’s degree programs in Law, Criminal Justice or related fields and/or to qualify for admission to law school.

The general Master of Laws program is for students who have already completed a law degree and want to enhance their legal skills by focusing on a particular field or an emerging area of law.

The general LL.M. program offers law graduates an opportunity to broaden their backgrounds in certain specialized areas of law by enrolling in advanced courses and seminars and by engaging in specialized research. Most students seeking this degree concentrate in areas such as corporate and commercial law, international law, intellectual property law, legal practice and procedure, natural resources law, or property law.

This concentration is an integrated degree that combines coursework in communication, political systems, criminology, ethics and philosophy, history, and economics to prepare students for the rigors of graduate work in the area of law or the field of alternative dispute resolution. With advanced planning, students may be eligible for an accelerated law degree through Mason’s Scalia Law School.
