14 Legal Studies Degree Programs in Italy

The Summer School will take place in Pisa. Between the afternoon of Monday, July 6, and the morning of Friday, July 10, 2026, twenty-five hours of lectures and seminars will be held. An MS Teams connection will be provided so that the lectures and seminars can be attended online as well.

The Single-Cycle Degree in Law is directed, first and foremost, towards the so-called classical legal professions, i.e. Attorney, Magistrate or Notary.The Single-Cycle Degree in Law is a five years Course. Several classes of the first year have an historical and/or philosophical bent, intending to provide or strengthen the “cultural platform” needed during the following years. The last two years feature several subjects to be freely chosen by the students in order to allow the students a further focus on those issues and subjects he or she deems particularly important for his or her education and personal interests. The Single-Cycle Degree in Law is directed, first and foremost, towards the so-called classical legal professions, i.e. Attorney, Magistrate or Notary.

The Global Law and Transnational Legal Studies degree is innovative and is constituted by a large part of comparative law studies. The discipline of legal comparison will give students the possibility to deepen the research of different legal models, practices and cultures.

“Global Legal Studies” (GLS) is a programme aimed at blending Italian excellence in legal education – it began in Bologna in 11th century – with a modern, multicultural and multilinguistic approach. The programme is bilingual (Italian / English). Students who graduate receive a Master’s Degree [Laurea Magistrale in Giurisprudenza: LMG/01]. The following guide-lines are mainly applicable to students who live in Italy and intend to follow the entire 5-year program. Traditional Law Degree (Laurea in Giurisprudenza), including all the skills required for legal professions in Italy and an International curriculum made of 19 courses entirely taught in English (around 150 credits): 15 of them are mandatory courses, and 4 are left to the free choice of the students. All the courses are taught in English except for the three of them named in Italian, which are courses taught in Italian but especially addressed to GLS students.

Master's in European Legal Studies offers a broad education in a wide range of subjects related to European and international law, including the protection of fundamental rights in the framework of multilevel constitutionalism, substantive EU law, comparative and global administrative law, and more.

LEGS – Legal Studies is a 2nd cycle degree – 2 years Master Program – entirely taught in English, forming graduates with strong legal skills qualified for legal advisory positions in the international context (International Organizations, Non-governmental organizations, corporations) or with an international perspective (national organizations, undertakings).

The Global Legal Studies program is an Italian / English bilingual program that integrates Italian excellence in legal education with a modern, multicultural and multilingual approach. All of them are taught in English except for the three named in Italian, which are courses taught in Italian.

The degree course in Legal Services is a three-year degree course aimed at ensuring adequate preparation in basic legal subjects, as well as acquiring essential knowledge of an economic nature, functional for training professional figures of different nature.

A social sustainability and welfare management graduate is able to interpret social phenomena in a critical and reflective way. He also acquires the expertise to experiment with programmes to protect the most vulnerable population groups through intervention aimed at social innovation, enhancing the relationship with the users of services, as well as with the network of public and private institutions at the local level.

The One-Cycle Degree Course (Master Degree) in Law prepares students to access the legal profession, the judiciary and to carry out functions of high responsibility in public administration and/or in public and private bodies and/or in EU and international Institutions.
