4 Language Degree Programs in Oman

The College offers a number of leading academic disciplines that cater to the labour market needs through the various academic programs in the fields of Management Sciences (Business Administration, Accounting, Finance and Banking), English Language (Literature and Translation), Information Technology (Computer Sciences and Software Engineering), Design (Graphic and Interior Design) and Law, as well as the Foundation Program, which trains new students in English, mathematics and computer skills and study skills in order to engage in the academic disciplines they have already chosen.

English courses are a terrific way to increase English skills as well as a host of other topics. Our courses are designed to encourage children to learn about the environment, other cultures, the world around them.

The translation program helps students to master the intellectual and scientific aspects of translation. It prepares students to become professional translators and interpreters. The program aims at fulfilling the following learning objectives: Demonstrate good control of the four basic language skills for acquiring and exchanging information; Acquire knowledge of concepts, current issues, and research methods in Linguistics and Translation; Translate different types of texts from English into Arabic and vice versa; Apply knowledge and principles of translation in order to be professional translators and interpreters in collaboration with the community; Use knowledge of the various linguistic systems to perform efficiently oral and written communicative acts within social contexts; Perform translation and interpretation using the latest technology; Demonstrate awareness and knowledge of language’s role in promoting social and cross-cultural understanding.

Credits of course work (24 credit hours) in addition to research leading to a thesis (6 credit hours). The student should complete the coursework requirements specified in the degree plan with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00. For the thesis, the candidate is required to conduct the necessary literature review, undertake the research, analyze the results, write the report and communicate the results at an oral defense.
