Many high school students aspire to enroll in an international bachelor’s degree but lack the skills and background to do so. The Business Bridging program provides candidates with the knowledge required to succeed in our three-year bachelor’s programs. The Business Bridging program is a one-semester (13-week) course that acts as a bridge to the first year of our bachelor's programs. Students will strengthen their academic, communication and business English skills while studying management and economics. Students can enroll in the program in October, February and June. Upon successful completion, students are automatically admitted into the first year of our bachelor's programs.

Students who wish to participate in this Master program need to have solid basic knowledge of German linguistics and the ability to conduct scholarly work. Such knowledge and skills form the foundation for acquiring greater knowledge of the systematics, varieties and use of the German language, as well as its analysis. A variety of exemplary and specially selected topics are addressed in individual courses in order to make students more familiar with both theoretical and practical problems in the field of German linguistics.

The master's program in French Linguistics and Literature offers students the opportunity of extending the knowledge and skills they have already acquired in the field of language, literature and French/Francophone culture, qualifying them to pursue research in these fields. At the same time, the program prepares students for training in other careers such as translation, journalism, teaching or academic research.

Editorial Studies covers the theory and practice of fundamental philological work (interpretation of traditional conventions, text criticism and commentary). It is broadly concerned with the saving, documentation, constitution and communication of control texts in Humanities research. The objects of study are addressed in-depth, using examples from participating disciplines. In close cooperation with institutions and projects in archiving and publishing, appropriate requirements for archiving and editorial practice are communicated, viewed critically and implemented as part of practical work.

The MA in English offers a wide variety of topics, theoretical approaches and historical perspectives to explore. The MA programs convey profound historical and systematic knowledge of the varieties of the English language as well as English-speaking literatures and cultures. They promote expertise in theories, concepts and methodologies in the field of English literatures and language and linguistics, advance oral and written competences in English academic discourse, and instruct students in developing their own research questions and independent academic work.

The Master program in German Literature addresses the entire range of German literature, the associated cultural environments, and the relationship between German literature and literature in neighbouring countries from the beginnings of German literature to the present day. The influence of Latin on German literature is also taken into consideration here. The following subject areas are addressed in depth using examples from Medieval, early modern, modern and contemporary literature: philology and editorial studies, rhetoric, poetics, history and theory of aesthetics and hermeneutics, the systematics of of literature analysis, analysis of historical contexts (social history, science history) and comparative aspects in relation to other literary cultures. The advanced and supplementary courses focus on the transfer of literary traditions and the reception of German literature down through the ages, German literary subjects and genres, and the evolution of genres and writing styles, whereby special attention is paid to the continuity in early, modern and contemporary German literature. Students are made aware of problems associated with the research history and desiderata of their selected subject focus and are provided with the skills they need to select and apply from among competing research approaches the proper method of analysis for their subject focus. During the Master program, students may specialize in early German literature, early modern German literature or contemporary German literature.
