The programme is well suited for students who are interested in studying how English is acquired in first and second language settings, as well as how the English language is affected by multilingual situations. Students admitted to the programme will be closely integrated into the C-LaBL, which is an active and productive research group working on various aspects of multilingualism and language acquisition. The students will get the opportunity to carry out hands-on research with the members of the group. The programme provides a good foundation for work related to multilingualism in both the private and the public sector, and is well suited for students who want to pursue a career within research.

The program is well suited for students who wish to study language from a comparative perspective. The program places special emphasis on the formal aspects of grammar, in particular syntax and phonology. The approach to these disciplines relies on comparative studies of many languages.

This One-Year program in Norwegian Language and Society is a perfect start if you are qualified for and want to continue at one of the Three-Year bachelor's degrees in Engineering or the Two-Year Master's degree program in Integrated Building Technology at the Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology in Narvik.

Linguistics is the science of human language and language use. Europe and Norway are becoming increasingly multilingual, and linguistic knowledge is becoming increasingly valuable for understanding language learning, language use and language difficulties throughout life.

Spanish Language and Latin American studies will teach you the Spanish Language, but it also seeks to provide you with a better understanding of the historical processes that led to the huge differences we can see between rich and poor in Latin America today.

The program comprises courses in English language and linguistics, as well as in British and American literature and culture. Students can specialize in either linguistics or literature, defining their research projects under supervision. We offer courses in both theoretical and experimental linguistics, as well as in early modern and modern literature. 

The French Master’s programme aims to give a high level of knowledge in French language, literature and culture. We offer specialised courses in linguistic and literary topics, and provide extensive training in oral and written use of modern French. The supervised master’s thesis allows you to pursue in-depth investigation and analysis within your chosen area of linguistics or literary studies. The Master’s programme also aims to engage you in on-going research at the Department and to help you develop a critical and independent attitude to problems and methods of the subject disciplines.
