The study program “Kinesiology and Special Motility” has the task to form specialists in the prevention and rehabilitation of functional sequelae following various pathologies, as well as in other areas of human motion. After attending the bachelor study cycle, the students should be able to: prove good theoretical knowledge in the domain; prove clinical competence in assessment, physical treatment planning, and its implementation; identify the functional assessment methods specific to various pathologies; etc.

The Master of Science in Kinesiology program prepares graduate students to advance the fields of kinesiology through evidenced-based patient care and translational research. The program emphasizes basic and clinical interdisciplinary education and research in areas of kinesiology and has three concentrations: Clinical Exercise Physiology (CAAHEP accredited), Strength and Conditioning (CASCE accredited), and Applied Physiology and Neuromechanics (research-thesis emphasis).

Faculty and students in our department examine human movement from a physiological, biomechanical, developmental and psychosocial perspective. Undergraduates receive a B.S. in Kinesiology, with coursework focusing on either Exercise Science (ES) or Physical & Health Education Teacher Education (PHETE). The ES concentration prepares students for careers in area such as strength and conditioning, personal training, corporate wellness, and cardiac rehabilitation. Many of our Exercise Science graduates choose to continue their education in order to pursue various health-related professional programs such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant and medicine.

This degree in kinesiology is a demanding science-based program designed to prepare students for a career in clinical exercise, coaching, corporate fitness, exercise and sports psychology, medical and exercise equipment sales, personal training, sport and exercise nutrition, sport science, or wellness/fitness management. The Kinesiology (KINE) program provides students with a strong science foundation for post-graduate specialized study in kinesiology or professional schools (e.g., chiropractic, medical, and physical therapy).

An Associate in Arts in Kinesiology for Transfer (AA-T) from Skyline College is intended for students who are interested in transferring to a California State University (CSU) campus with a major in Kinesiology, or similar major.

The Associate in Arts in Kinesiology for Transfer degree (AA-T Kinesiology) is designed to prepare students for a seamless transfer with junior status and priority admission to their local CSU campus to a program or major in Kinesiology or similar major for completion of a baccalaureate degree.

The Department of Kinesiology is dedicated to the development of future leaders in professions that maximize the potential of individuals and society through physical activity, exercise, and sport. The department offers a Master of Science degree with a focus on exercise physiology that includes both a thesis and a non-thesis track. Courses must be selected with the approval of the adviser in accordance with the professional goals of the student. Students applying to kinesiology are expected to have satisfactory Graduate Record Examination scores and adequate undergraduate preparation, including at least one course in a cognate area of the discipline.
