Communication Studies Program, Faculty of Communication, Mercu Buana University, was established in 1994, by Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Number: 071/D/O/1994 concerning the establishment and operation permit of the Faculty of Communication Science, Mercu Buana University.

DIKOM UGM's undergraduate program has been certified nationally by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) of The Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, and internationally by the ASEAN University Network (AUN).
