40 Journalism, Media, and Mass Communication Degree Programs in Hong Kong

The Bachelor of Journalism and Communication (Honours) (BJC) programme is the first 4-year undergraduate programme in Hong Kong that converges Business, Journalism, Public Relations and Corporate Communication in one curriculum.

This programme aims at providing students with a wide range of knowledge, concepts and applications of information and communication technology (ICT) to develop problem-solving skills in real-world settings. It also provides students with opportunities to appreciate the impact of ICT on the individual and society in the digital age, and equips students with innovative pedagogical knowledge, up-to-date subject knowledge, values, skills and practice essential to teach ICT in school education.

The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Arts and Culture Communication (BA-ACC) programme is designed to respond to the positioning of Hong Kong as an east-meets-west centre for arts and cultural exchanges, which is aligned with the vision set for Hong Kong by the Central Government as well as the policies formulated by the Hong Kong SAR Government.

A technology-driven, communication-focused double-major curriculum for the digital age The Bachelor of Journalism, Media and Artificial Intelligence offers students a strong foundation in journalism and media, with a distinct focus on how artificial intelligence is reshaping content creation, distribution, and audience engagement.

The Fellowship provides a monthly stipend HK$HK$26,900 (approximately US$3,450) to each awardee for up to three years. The Master of Journalism (MJ) course is a one-year full-time or a two-year part-time course. Students learn the core skills of journalism—reporting and writing, television and video production, media law and ethics, and new media. Students also have the opportunity to take elective courses in a broad range of subjects from business and finance to data journalism to digital media. Candidates shall complete no fewer than 60 and no more than 72 course credits.

The Bachelor of Translation with Business (Hons) Programme is unique and the first of its kind in Hong Kong. It gives students versatile skills and comprehensive knowledge in translation and business to equip them for future careers in related fields.

The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Convergent Media and Communication Technology (BA-CMCT) Degree Programme provides students with a quality inter-disciplinary education that offers a unique blend of media theory and practice in association with communication technology, so as to nurture professional and versatile talents to confidently face challenges and opportunities in the age of rapidly developing digital media and communication industries.

As the first of its kind in Asia, the MJ-DFS programme empowers aspiring documentarians to harness the power of authentic visual storytelling. The one-year intensive programme provides hands-on experience in documentary making, learning from top filmmakers from around the world.

Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Studies and Digital Communication The BA(ESDC) program aims to cultivate a new generation of English studies students with strong digital literacy skills through a digitally enriched curriculum. The program provides a wide range of courses to build a solid foundation in English language, linguistics, and digital literacy, consolidated by hands-on experience in using digital tools for language applications.

The BACM major crosses the boundaries between different digital media arts practices and combines critical studies and creative practice. You will acquire both breadth learning and specialist training in media arts and study courses in photography, computational art, gaming and interactive media, sound, animation, film and media art installation.

The BAS major is a unique programme that fosters interdisciplinary enquiry, balances theoretical knowledge and practical skills in new media arts, connects technological and scientific concepts and methods to creative practices, offers signature courses in Arts Tech, and prepares students for jobs in new media arts and creative industries

Our programme delivers interdisciplinary teaching by crossing the boundaries among digital media, design and computer science, which bridges creative and technical sides of computer-based media art production. Students will be trained in computer graphics, digital imaging, mobile media, user-interface (UI) and user-experience (UX) design, computer games and interactive media.

This course provides professional postgraduate studies in international journalism with a particular emphasis on Hong Kong, Mainland China and East/Southeast Asia. This is offered in two concentrations: International Journalism and Business and Financial Journalism.
