3 Interior and Set Design Degree Programs in Poland

It offers a comprehensive study programme which includes both theoretical and practical subjects preparing the future graduate to work as an interior architect. The study programme includes a gradual introduction to issues related to the creation of interior architecture, starting with the basics of interior design, ergonomics, principles of designing spatial forms and compositions, creation of functional systems and ending with specialised design of specific spaces: residential, service and public utility, as well as design of trade fair stands and exhibition interiors. During the course of study, the student acquires specialist knowledge for his/her future profession, and also expands this knowledge with a basis of knowledge in the field of architecture, which is strongly linked to interior design. In order to be a fully educated specialist, the student supplements his/her knowledge with information on the history of art and architecture, art classes and material science.

The multifaceted nature of architectural creativity, covering everything from urban planning through the design of buildings, interiors, exhibitions, and trade fairs, as well as the design of furniture and social space, represents the very essence of architecture, that is the organization and development of socially useful space. Its structural coherent whole, which includes both the interior and external form – much like negative and positive - defines its value as a complex work, that is inextricably linked to the development of civilizations and cultures. Having identified these connections, The Academy of Film Art and Design was the first in Poland to form a didactic process that gives equal treatment to all of the various forms of architectural creativity, when preparing students for the profession of architect. Extensive knowledge in the field of humanities, technology, and culture, when applied in spatial organization and design, will guarantee both a proper interdisciplinary as well as specialist education provided by the individual departments. Computer and multimedia techniques used in the implementation of design exercises ensure an education that meets current professional design standards. The top awards gained in prestigious competitions and the professional achievements of our students and graduates, show the effectiveness of the adopted didactic program.

Department of Scenography at the Faculty of Architecture and Design consists of five design studios, which conduct an interdisciplinary design and artistic educational work directed at the conscious and responsible shaping of the visual identity of the ‘stage’-the nearest environment. Stage Design and Fashion Design as specializations refer to creating ‘occasional space’ (theatre, TV studio, exhibitions, shows, spectacles, parades etc.).
