To represent the variety of courses integrated into this program, we named our degree “interdisciplinary studies” as opposed to “general studies,” which you might see at other universities.

Capitalism Studies is an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the history and present-day workings of the modern global economy. Capitalism Studies encourages students to gain a broad, well-rounded understanding of business, labor, government, and economics, by considering those subjects from multiple disciplines, across the social sciences and humanities.

The curriculum for AUR’s Interdisciplinary Studies degree leaves ample room for personal variation so that students, in conjunction with their academic advisor can tailor their studies to their own particular interests. The Women’s and Gender Studies B.A. in the Interdisciplinary Studies program prepares students to understand how gender and sexuality shape their lives, the lives of others, the production of knowledge, and social institutions. Film Studies is an interdisciplinary program that allows for professional advancement through the utilization of film as an art form, conduit of popular culture, community-building tool and agent of change. The interdisciplinary B.A. degree in Film & Media Production allows students from all disciplines and backgrounds to develop knowledge of film and media as an art form and community-building tool while fulfilling their degree program.
