You work based on dementia professional knowledge with a particular focus on activities concerning people with dementia. Based on a person-centred approach, you have a particular focus on the activity's significance for meaningfulness and increased quality of life. You also work with planning and evaluating activities, both individual activities, and group activities. Finally, you will focus on relationship-building factors, including the importance of communication in meaningful professional activities in people with dementia.

Based on a person-centred approach, dementia professional understanding, and methods, the participant can:

Take independent initiatives and create conditions for a framework for individual and group activities for people with dementia.

Plan relevant activities based on a person's life history, personality, and consequently experienced meaningfulness, active participation, and the opportunity for social relationships.

Use methods for analysis, reflection, and evaluation of initiated activities based on the individual's wishes and need for meaningful activity and signs of under stimuli / over stimuli.

Identify needs and involve the person with dementia in the use of relevant welfare technology to further experienced well-being and quality of life.

Use relevant forms of communication in relation to and collaboration with the person with a dementia disease and its possible relatives.

Target group: Employees who work in jobs or are looking for jobs corresponding to social and health assistants, respectively social and health assistants, pedagogical assistants, etc., and who have experience of working with people with dementia. It is recommended that you have prior knowledge of working with people with dementia in your practice and that you have a basic knowledge of dementia disease corresponding to the labour market education "42673 People with dementia, knowledge of illness" and "44327 Care for people with dementia" or similar qualifications.
